    Horrendous conditions down the Páirc

    Castlematry 1-12 v 0-15 Inniscarra finished a draw

Opening match was a great game in terrible conditions.

Blackrock 1-2 St Finbarrs 0-5 after 15 min

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,064 ✭✭✭zetecescort

St Finbarrs much better team in the 2nd half, 2-14 to 1-7 FT. Hopefully they can be the first Cork side to have a real go at the Munster championship in a long time

Absolutely ridiculous conditions to play a game of hurling in but the Barrs won't care one bit.

    St. Finbarrs 2-14 v 1-07 Blackrock

I fancied them for a while to win it. They have a very balanced team with a fair few subs who could easily start.

What happened the Rockies lads? 8 scores in a county final is very poor regardless of bad conditions.

Mark Landers and Seanie McGrath fancied the Rockies while Limerick man TJ Ryan tipped the Barrs on Dalo's podcast.

A great second half performance from St Finbarrs. Ethan Toomey, what a prospect. Ben Cunninghams maturity for a young guy was exceptional. The conditions were very trying. Blackrock just didn't get into the game at all after half time. They stopped hurling or maybe weren't let. The St Finbarrs fullback line is dodgy and how they weren't tested more I do not know. Great win and as a neutral a great occasion. Off to Ennis now for a Munster club semi final.

I'm delighted for the Barrs tbh, the 29 year wait is over! It goes to show that form is temporary but class is permanent.

Ethan twomey was different class. Its gonna be some 3/4 weeks up in Moks

Fair play to the four sets of players yesterday in horrendous conditions. I saw some of the highlights when I got home and the conditions were far worse than the tv cameras would make you think. The pitch of course had a lot of water on it by the end but in fairness didn't look like it dug much which is testament to the groundstaff. 15,000 was a very good crowd considering a lot of neutrals and people from other counties might have decided to stay at home when they looked out their window the morning of the match.

The Senior final was disappointing as a contest as it never looked like we were going to have a grandstand finish. Not the fault of the Barr's of course, they've some fine young players who I'm looking forward to seeing them get a run with Cork seniors.

The Premier Intermediate match was far more entertaining. Both teams looked to have won and lost it at various times. Replay fixed for next Saturday in the Park.

Great to see The Barrs back at the top table of Cork hurling they certainly have a few great potential Cork players the signs are encouraging- Blackrock have no real stand out player you would think would play for Cork Alan Connolly blows very hot and cold could be a busy few weeks for the Barrs if they win the football and have dual muster club Assignments.

Alan got 4-5 for Cork last year, he's already doing it for us. The quality and amount of ball he receives for Cork is incomparable to what he gets with the Rockies, and he still manages to contribute every match.

Hmm this lad has gone into hiding since last may! 1959 buddy 1959.😁 Anyway as a neutral it's great to see the Barrs back on top again. Hopefully they'll give Munster and the all Ireland a good rattle as well. Im delighted for Ger Cunningham in particular.

He should have been John Allens successor in 2006 as well. He had a bad time of it in Dublin, but Anthony Daly was the only manager who was able to get a tune out of the Dublin hurlers. I feel this success has restored his reputation as a top class hurling coach imo.

2 points down with seconds remaining of injury time and Inniscarra score a goal to win the replay !

    Great Tweet....

Are you on about Cork or the Barrs there? Why won't they do anything in Munster?

The Barr's. Cork clubs haven't performed in Munster since Newtown left

I think the Barrs this year will be a big improvement on what we have seen in Munster.

Kanturk put Bantry to the sword after a tight enough first half! Highlights below! Now a duel senior club!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,942 ✭✭✭Straight Talker

Once the celebrations subside down Togher way, i'd say they'll give it a good rattle. They say the Cork senior hurling championship is of poor standard, it possibly is but in Waterford you have Ballygunner winning it every year. It's better for a county championship to have a more even spread of winners, as opposed to the same team winning it year after year

I would give them a great chance against ballyea in the Munster, they played great hurling in them conditions against blackrock

Alot would depend on the football next week , I imagine it would be a fairly sweet victory over Nemo and to do the double so that could affect preparations

They have came along way since 2008 where they were robbed up here in West Clare in an intermediate Munster club game against my club , have always been keeping an eye on them since

Some finish in the intermediate hurling final at weekend, what a way to win a county!! Unbelievable stuff

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,557 ✭✭✭CorkRed93

  • Registered Users Posts: 614 ✭✭✭sportsfan90

I was at the drawn game and the replay, two brilliant games of hurling. Incredible ending, I can't think of a county final with a more dramatic finish.

Inniscarra now play the winner of Roscrea and Ballysaggart.

Sounds like there has been a clear change in the way games are being refereed in Cork and refs are less whistle happy and allowing more physicality.

Personally I think that will stand to Cork clubs and county team long term.

As regards The Barrs chances often you see teams that win their county first time or after a long time struggle in Munster as they are in bonus territory but I think the fact The Barrs have that football experience in Munster will stand to them

I've seen clips. Looked quality game for intermediate level

If you could pick a way to win a county that must be it. Not even an ordinary goal in injury time would be as good, the packed goal mouth added to everything! Devastating way to lose though
