Part one of the ladysbridge Shannagarry double done. I spent my summers in the area when I was young and it's a great part of the county. I'd love to see Russell rovers do it tomorrow.

Just reading elsewhere that O'Neills had two sent off with straight reds and presumably miss the final

Great win today for our U20s in the John Kerins Cup. Even better it was down in Austin Stack Park

    Cork U20s 1-19 (22)
    Kerry U20s 3-12 (21)

Good win for UCC tonight. Overall happy with Cork, Hoggie was class and Nash made a world-class save. Lehane was waayy out of his depth. Thought he was very poor.

One thing I forgot to add: Cork are very small. A really really small team. UCC blew them out of it in some instances to be honest.

Small? Not at the back anyway

Eoin Cadogan, Damien Cahalane, Sean O Donoghue, Colm Spillane, Chris o Leary, Tim O Mahony , Bill Cooper. They’re a huge unit

Up front Harnedy, Sean Twomey. Rest of forwards smaller alright but it’s not something that would stick out to me

This Cork team are very light when you compare them to other counties. We have been for quite while. Kilkenny in particular always seem to 'bully' us with ease. The second half last year we simply withered away and barely won a 50/50 ball. Their intensity and strength was clearly a level above ours. Ball winners in our fowards - especially from puckouts have been rare enough for years.

Lacking more in attitute than strength imo. Unwilling to get stuck in

Possibly, theres no point in being strong if you are not capable of putting it in, for whatever reason.

according to the papers its the first time ever but thats hard to believe, and the papers often misquote so I dont believe everything they write.
Surely they have played there at least once in the history of ladies football ?

like ffs, I played in Croke park as a 13 year old in a school A vs B challenge game (yep, we drove to Dublin, togged out and played an internal training match!).

Are Cork county board that exclusive about their stadium that it is harder for a super successful female county team to get into than for kids to play in croke park ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,091 ✭✭✭zetecescort

not its true alright, only one or two of the older team played Scaith na Scoil in PUC I think

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,034 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

    First official match in PUC

The ladies have trained and played practice matches there before alright

Be great to see the proper ladies team in PUC

No. They were scheduled to play their first game there last year but it had to be moved to Páirc Uí Rinn - pitch unplayable I think.
They've never played an official game down the Páirc before.

Cork really should be beating Limerick in football, but I didnt see the game.

Goal down in the hurling at ht, lots of mistakes but its January.
Could go either way but Limerick look sharper.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,091 ✭✭✭zetecescort

It might be only January but we are being beaten all over the field. Limerick scoring at their ease.

    Jeez.

I didn't watch any of it but that's not a good sign. As well as the footballers being beaten too it sounds like a horrible day.

The only thing at least its early on. Sounds like there is a lot of work to do

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,686 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Limerick were on top in the first half and did as they pleased in the second really. Truly awful, but it's only January.

Then again, Limerick scored 1-32 and it's only January.

That was a depressing few hours from a cork view point the footballers well no surprise there they are just awful. The hurlers have the same issues as they have dogged them over the last 10 years they cant win dirty ball and their skills for the short game are not good enough we will be lucky to get out of munster

  • Registered Users Posts: 34,070 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

Bit of a reality check tonight in both codes.

Still its only 2nd week into January. Might be a blessing

That was a surprise in the football, we have better footballers than that and really should be beating Limerick. Fair dues to Limerick all the same.

There is a littany of faults with the hurlers. A lot of old ones too.
