Strong win for the Cork Ladies Footballers today in the NFL Division 1 Round 1

It finished Kerry 0-9 Cork 2-17 FT

Sounds like a very dominant display down in Kerry too!

Interesting article here about the stats from the Cork v Kilkenny game
From nine plays, O’Flynn scored two points and had two scoring assists. Jack O’Connor may have only made one play after his introduction but he showed his blazing speed when scoring his point.
Kilkenny edged the puckout stat 31-29 but Cork really stepped up in the physical stakes after the break. The stat for turnovers-in-possession had been 8-5 in Kilkenny’s favour in the first half but Cork won that category in the second half by 6-4.
Maybe we are finally a bit more physical as I have thought we have been too light in past seasons. I know it's early days yet though but good stats in that article.

Cork definitely seemed the more physical team, definitely something we were missing in recent years (even last year in the AI semi it was an issue). Hopefully we can keep it up. Was anyone near the Cillian Buckley incident up close on Saturday? That was one almighty wallop, who put in the challenge?

What do ye think of the footballers chances of promotion after the Tipp loss? I think it dealt us a massive blow, I know it's early days but I would be very surprised if Tipp don't get promoted. Between us having to travel to Meath and Roscommon I wouldn't be too confident (don't think Down will be such an issue on Sunday). Unless there's massive improvements in defence it will be another disappointing league campaign imo.

Quick question, taking the kids to the Cork v Waterford allianz match at Pairc Ui Chaoimh on the 25th, I'm not familiar with the stadium. Looking for seating and its offering Lower south stand or North stand.

    Any recommendation ?

North would be more sheltered if weather is bad. But stands are excellent really, you won't go wrong in either

Same thing really. Personally I prefer the North stand, but south stand is easier to get in/out of.

The boom is back on leeside and I am predicting that Cork will win the All-Ireland, and only for the sending off of Damien Cahalane then Cork would have powered on ahead of Waterford and Galway wouldn't have had a chance last year. Galway were lucky enough to win it last year in that Cork were unlucky.

Its early days for the Rebels but they are definite contenders and my favourite for September after tonight's performance. They hit Kilkenny all over the field and gave them a dose of their own medicine with the physicality and Cork were cuter and sharper on the ball all evening.

Agreed. Everything points to a Cork/Offaly final in September, with Cork winning by 5-6 points. Not another team will live with both these teams physicality this year. Streets ahead of any other team.!!

Pretty sure it was Harnedy, but it was more of an accidental collision as opposed to a challenge.

We’ll get Bond back in and go training 9 times a week. That should win it for us!

2-8 to 0-5 HT. Enjoyable game, plenty foot passing from Knocknagree. Took their goal chances while their keeper has made a couple of saves at the other end.

Great stuff by Knocknagree no fear.

Is it a case of him needing a taxi ?

OK, not so embarrassed now. Knock gave up 2 goals and a man down now.

    Only 3-13 to 3-8

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,056 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Well deserved win for Knocknagree, led from the start to finish and played some lovely football. 3-13 to 3-9 FT.

    Delighted for knocknagree, fantastic win.

Cork a few points up at ht, really impressed with the effort the fowards are putting in hassling the wexford defenders.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,425 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Coming up to 20 mins without scoring is terrible. Just totally gone to sleep. Mind you lot of frees not being given to Cork

    In the football good news

Allianz Football League Div 2 Round 2 (FT) Cork 1-13 Down 0-10

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,425 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Wexford Keeper threw his hurley at Kingston there! How did the ref not see it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,425 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Ref has given everything to Wexford.

About 5 frees in the lead up to that Cork goal chance but we ended up missing it and no free.

Wexford definitely battled harder but Ref did us no favours at all

In the ladies Football Div 1 Round 2

Cork beat Monagahan in Mallow 4-14 to 1-7

Not impressed with the ref. We went to sleep for a long period and that cost us in the end. A couple of goal chances near the end not taken. Good game in a lot of ways, it will bring them on for the next one.
