1 more win should see us safe, Tyrone would have to win out to stay up then

Was in castlebar I thought Mayo were well up for this one they love Kerry coming to town and beating us. We were slow getting going, but we did muster up a bit of a come back in second half, could have got something out of it had some chances last few minutes but Kerry were slow to get ball up the field in the last minute or 2 of play, The hooter is fair but will hurt teams latter on in championship.

If we do not beat Armagh and Jimmy fields a weakened team against Tyrone we are probably relegated

That would be my take as well

Need a point at least ,& then have win v galway assuming Dongeal don't do anything for the remaining 2 games.( as tempting as it is I think Donegal will want to keep momentum going though)

It is worrying how slow the build up is, P Clifford is not bringing nothing to the team the last 2 years and seem's to only pass to his brother. He now keep's passing backwards and sideways. No midfield and no half forward line will kill us again this year. The points we have we are lucky to have, we have been outplayed for most of this campaign. Cian o' Neill should never be near this team nevermind Jack o' Connor. Tactically naive!!

Don't see how getting rid of the one half forward we have that can actually play ball does us any good.

I'd hate to see where would be without him, can he improve...yes.

We need a half forward that loves the dirty work & relishes the physical battle, haven't had one since Galvin retired

Hopefully he can improve but I think he is set in his ways too much for that to happen. Pointless having a player on the pitch who isn't playing up to scratch, in fact it is a liability!!

The middle 8 is crucial in these new rules yet I see nothing from us so far.

Strong rumour Sean O'Shea has left the Kerry panel

Why so, because we should brush it under the carpet. We have lost our edge. I heard it on the grapevine. There has been issues for the last two seasons with team selection.

Is it not juat a case of a recurring knee injury? Same injury that kept him out for a few league games last year.

Did I imagine it or was he out with the team with a ball before the match this evening?

Edit: I didn't imagine it, so unless he left after tonight's match, I'd find it hard to believe.

Delighted for Joe O C getting man of the match I am not his biggest fan I didn't think there was much football in him but for work rate and determination, he put in some shift he is obviously training very hard and working on his fitness and making sure that he is going to give it everything and take this great opportunity he has to nail down this badly needed midfield spot come the championship, Hats off to Joe and I have go into work on Tuesday and eat some humble pie.

In fairness to Tyrone, the Omagh pitch was likely flooded, it usually is, so the move was based on a dry pitch as much as anything else. Sure we all know that Kerry train by climbing Carrauntoohil and playing a game on the summit.

Wouldn't have predicted a league final spot given some performances this year. But here we are. Mayo finish with negative scoring difference and also get there. Mad aul game.

Anyway, trip to Croke Park and a cut off Mayo is never a bad thing.

Never a bad thing to get to a final imo esp when in Munster

Extra game will do them well

If we lost we'd have been relegated. Kinda mad really. Donegal and Galway probably delighted not to have made the final

We need a tough game against Mayo as Munster is bad.

with the exception of the 2nd half performance against Dublin in Tralee… it has been a good enough league for Kerry… beat derry tyrone and armagh.. no mean feat.. beat galway.. lost to donegal.. no big deal really as we knew that donegal had alot more training done.. lost to mayo.. again no big deal.. as Mayo have very often played their best football in spring only to falter later on… ive lost count of how many times mayo have beaten kerry in the league.. means nothing in the long run…

all say long. No serious match until Easter weekend.

Tyrone and Derry are now D2 teams. We were very lucky to beat Derry. Ya losing the toss fecked the Dublin match, however we were not clinical against Mayo. We didn't deserve to wing against Derry. We managed the game against Tyrone well.

For some reason Galway decided they did not want to be in a league final

Galway had a potential good day out asits generally them or Mayo for Connaught. Were they poor on Sunday?

They were disinterested, they decided not to complete

I find that hard to believe. How would any serious team not welcome the chance of an extra game at headquarters and a cut at a national title!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,361 ✭✭✭✭Bass Reeves

They made 5 changes to a weak ish team before the match and they did not make it any stronger if anything they weakened it.

They huffed and puffed for 10 minutes in the second half and then rolled over for us to tickle there belly

What were they at? If that's their attitude they won't win Sam this year. Impossible to impose but how would you sanction managers playing weakened teams. They will have to start the league 2 weeks early and play 7 weeks in a row. Top team the winner, no play off final. Then 2-3 weeks break for championship. Same in hurling.

They were lucky to draw v tyrone iirc.

The dublin game seems to have knocked them back a good bit.

They could get beaten by Roscommon yet.

Having said that it's hard to know exactly where any team really with the new rules.

The harder ground & better weather will give us a better idea

Always good to get a league title

Far more direct than mayo with quicker kick passing into the inside forwards.

Paudie C ran the show and pretty much allowed to.

I still can't fathom why Mayo persist with Aidan o Shea.

I'd worry for paul murphy come later championship time...he got skinned a good few times today

Nice win with some good football played. In truth we were rarely tested today as that was a bad Mayo performance. Joe ' Connor, P Geaney & G White the standout's. D Clifford again a worry when put under pressure for important scores, he has been mostly average since the 2022 Final. Tom O' Sullivan another seasoned player who fails to score when it is needed most. Won a lot of breaking ball which is vital with the new rules. P Murphy is a serious worry for the Championship and D Bourke should start instead.
