    30 minutes at an FCP gives me generally 75-95km depending. 24kWh leaf.

    yes but I am asking you to look a few years down the road

    after all today , most shopping centre dont having any charging facilities

    But - as I said above - generally it's not a "need" like an FCP is, it's a niceto have, like a free wifi

    free wifi is a few hundred euros to a shop , yet my local aldi or Lidl doesnt have any , nor does my dunnes , my local tesco has a poor version

    so given AC or medium power DC is far more expensive to install especially given the site works and MV power demands , I cant see too many providing such chargers ( other then a token one to be seen to be " green " )

    So are you saying that, in a few years down the road, shopping centres (Here I'm talking massive shopping centres like Blanch, Liffey Valley, Dundrum ETC) will have no charging at all?

    Given the recent uptake in large companies installing 22kW AC chargers at workplaces, especially in the tech sector, for that particular reason - token green - I don't see why not.

    Does a know how much it costs perfect 100 miles on the night rate to charge their car?
    It's costs me 7 euro per 100 miles on my diesel van.
    I'm curious as to what the savings would be

    €7 for 100 miles sounds very good... too good in fact.

    Thats 3.3ltrs/100km --> 85mpg!!!!

    On the EV side, it depends on what car you have and what speed you drive at as to what it costs to do 100km.
    Ballpark figures to give you an idea.... 16kWh/100km and electricity at night rate is about 7c/kWh so about €1.12. Thats highly variable depending on speed, car, daytime charging etc which is more expensive, but is close enough to the mark for most people in an EV.

    Considering that 100 miles is (roughly) 160 Km and I can do easily 250 Km per 28kW, simple maths say it would be 18kW for the said 100 miles. let's assume 15 cents per kWh would sum up to €2.7

    It's actually about €8.5 per 100 miles but I claim 23% vat back. Obviously when Diesel goes up in price I'll be paying more where electricity doesn't increase as much.

    Night rate is more like 7cents per kWh.

    I don't know what you are driving, but my 24kw leaf can do around 120km... so more like 30KW for the 100 miles.

    Still comes out around the 2 euro mark on night rate though.

    Based on your 67mpg figure it is costing you €5.31/100km. A typical EV would cost €1.12/100km. So, as you said, a saving of €4+/100km depending on speed, weather, night rate charging etc.

    Ford connect 1.5L It looks like a Postman Pat type of van. Really great mileage. I can do even better on a country run. I had a 2.8L Jeep Cherokee & it was costing €16/€18 per 100 miles :)

    Many owners report to average about 250km on a full charge of 28kWh, so 100 miles would take about 18kWh at 6.65c night rate that would be about €1.30 taking into account 10% charging loss

    So extremely frugal van after VAT claim back: €7
    EV €1.30

    And of course the EV driver could charge at public chargers for free if he was really trying to maximise his savings :D

    Diesel is 1.18 today. It could easily be back at 1.50 or higher within months. There's big savings to be made alright. Hopefully there will be a suitable van in the next 3 years or so.

    Just to clarify the EV figures are for EV cars, not vans so it's unknown what a fully laden EV van would return but it should still beat the ICE equivalent by a long way.

    Indeed. And the VAT claim on diesel only (not on petrol, not on electricity, not on LPG, not on CNG, not on hydrogen) would be the first thing I would scrap in next months budget if I were the minister. Jump the sinking ship ;)

    There are EV vans, the Nissan eNV200 doesn't have a great range now, but will get a much bigger battery soon. But you're right, there isn't a huge choice of types of EV around at the moment.

    I am currently getting 14.4 Kw/100km

    my night rate is 6,35 cents from energia ( current cheapest )

    100 miles ( not miles ) is costing me 100.08 cents , in effect a euro
