Nanoscience, which was 595. 63 points off but I've heard of people getting in at 145 points lower.

On the tcd website it says you should have 80-95% of the points for the course. I'm hoping for a HEAR miracle aswell!

532, delighted. My course last year was 510 so hopefully, I get it! My Spanish teacher sent me an emotional email after I got a H1 so now I'm balling crying.

I know it doesn't matter what others think when you yourself are disappointed or are hoping for more points for a specific course, but that result is far from failure.

    HEAR works in magical ways.

I know someone who got 410 and he got his first choice (505) last year.

What was the course, if you don't mind? I'm about 25 under, and course is also very high demand :(

wow, did the LC about 20 years ago and got about 400 which I considered very mediocre.

Looking at all the high scores on this thread only reinforces that feeling. :o

Someone said they got 625 points, is that the max 600 plus 25 they give you for higher lvl maths now?

  • Registered Users Posts: 204 ✭✭iCrazzy

I got 490, have dentistry in both TCD and Cork.
I too, am hoping for hear miracle to save me, but I will also be rechecking my grades, if the above poster mentioning about 80-95% points is true, I could get into TCD with 80% of points, but I think thats just a ball figure.

I'd imagine 400 points, from 20 years would be a great score!

And, obviously, there's a certain bias in the thread. Only the high scoring people would be commenting as they're very happy, others wouldn't want to post their scores. A score of over 400 would put you in the top 30% I think, so it's a very good score.

And yeah they give bonus points for maths. Which I'm very grateful for!

Only high scorers are on this thread as they give a **** about the lc, I think I'm on my own with 295...

if what you got gets you into a course you want, it doesn't matter whether it's 295 or 695 .....

Probably not the exact right place to post this question but does anyone know if it is possible to transfer from DIT engineering to UCD/TCD engineering after one or two years? Or do you have to complete the full degree in DIT?

The fundamental problem you'd have is in awarding the degree. Any university can't give you a 4 year degree for two years in their university. Apart from all the logistical issues. Is there something that makes you want one place over another? Specialisation options?

I've been at Trinity for 8 years and have never heard of this! Guess not many students end up doing it. "Applicants are assessed on the basis of the total qualifications presented (i.e. school leaving results and third-level examination results)." Looks like you should have reasonable similar points or some good third level results to offset lower points. Hope it works out.

folks just wondering how the offers on Monday work - Im not a student!

Is it only the students who achieved enough points for their first choice that offers go out to or is it everyone who has achieved enough points for one of their choices that get offers in the first round - can't quite work it out!

Once you meet the the points and minimum entry requirements you will be offered the highest choice listed on your CAO, in round one you can be offered your 1st right through to your 10th choice.

So if you only meet the criteria for your 4th choice you can be offered that in the first round?

Yes, this is what happened me last year, I accepted my 4th choice in the first round.

This whole new point system is really confusing me. I got one H2, four H3's and one H4 which totals to 462 points.

Is that the equivalent to 480 in the old point system?

I want to do primary teaching and it went down to 460 last year in the second round so do you think I will be safe?

That's very annoying. I put my grades from last year(having known the exact percentages I got after viewing the papers) into this year's system and I went from 465 to 455. Coincidentally I just scraped into primary teaching with the 465 but wouldn't have if I did it this year? Hope you're lucky like I was and it goes down again!
