Just playing to a U.S. audience. For them, the rest of the world doesn't really exist. It seems like Shane would need to be leading before they'd show him.

That's nonsense. They have their set groups ready for the day. Anyone who is shooting up the leaderboard gets shown a little bit too. They showed bits of Lowry and molinari at the end because of the rounds they were having. There are plenty of Americans that weren't shown too.

Crazy scenes at the end with players breaking protocol to make sure they got their round played before the hooter ended ie DJ teeing off on 18 while Day was putting on 17. Didn't like it myself. I can understand that they didn't want to come back and play a hole in the morning but quite bizarre really.

did you see Rod Pampling hit a half hearted Happy Gilmore? I pissed myself laughing at that

then Jason day actually sprinting up the fairway. I think it was great

F**k protocol they were dead right. It's not like they broke any rules and day obviously would have been in on it. Was good craic.

It's a pity they wouldn't show the same urgency during 'normal' play. I'm getting a bit p1ssed off looking at players having long-winded chats with their caddies before playing their shots. There is a rule in golf that you must play without undue delay. It's about time someone got penalised over this carry-on. It seems to be getting worse.

Ah just make your point. You don't think they focus on their primary audience? If you watch U.S. golf coverage at all you know the focus of their coverage. It's just a fact - you're going to see very little of Shane Lowry unless he's leading or very close. Because the U.S. audience doesn't know who he is. So he was having one of the rounds of the day yesterday up to the 17th and we saw a couple of shots. Wow. As for their 'set groups for the day', well that's worse.I'd prefer to see the players making an impact today. I'm glad they're not covering the GAA or we'd have continuing shots of marquee forwards when the play is ar the other end of the pitch......

Its the US PGA championship, played in the US, televised on a US channel. Of course they gonna have focus on the home players and leaders. I can't see much wrong with that. If roles were reversed RTE would do the same.

Agreed. That's just the way it is.

Scorcher of a day today by the look of it. Commentators asking for wind and gasping.

No career slam for Spieth this year.

He's just off more or less

2 groups waiting on 6th tee. I dunno is the oosthuizen injury causing the delay, if not it's very poor

    Bbc red button

BBC red button isn't working for me. How are you getting it? Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,969 ✭✭✭✭alchemist33

Thanks for the replies. At the risk of sounding like a proper troglodyte, I can't find the red button on my BBC through Sky. A quick google suggests they just don't have it. True? (I know its on BBC later but sure it'll benearly over then)

BBC Red button isnt available to Sky RoI viewers i think. You might be able to tune in the red button channel manually though. Its at 10773H, 22.0, 5/6 if you want to try the add channel menu.

Thanks. I tried that as well and when I select the channel it doesn't store it then in my Other Channels. Probably Sky trying to make a balls of the Beeb's coverage so there's a public outcry and they get it back.

Odd. Just tried it on an old Sky standard definition box and it stored it ok. Called 'BBC RB1'.

Ah...I have it now. Had one of the inputs wrong and got the correct one from a different website. Thanks for your help. Had it not been for your last reply I wouldn't have looked at it again.

Is it just me or is this PGA championship a bit of a drain. Atmosphere there seems a bit subdued due to lack of birdies due to the difficult course set up. Leaderboard a bit bereft of personality ( bar Fowler I suppose) Kevin Kisner is basically expressionless . Don't think the BBC s commentary adds much to it either . Used to like Peter Aliss but has he become too much of a smart arse ?

The coverage on Eir is poor. Numerous important shots have been missed because they went for an ad break.

I really hope Kisner or Stroud don't win this.Nothing worse than a journeyman american golfer winning a major, it's just not a good story at least wiuth a journeyman from a smaller country it can be a good story. Kisner looks like he's at a funeral.

Well we all know that the event is the 4th of the 4 majors - so it is not one that can afford to be messed around TV coverage wise

But was put well by I think CMTOD in The Open thread - we have had a very unusual season with so many top players - off form - injured - personal issues . This season offered so much - but it hasn't lived up to it.

We had hoped for DJ / Rory / Day / Spieth going flat out at each other,

There were 4/5 other golfers floating around that level - giving a hope of an unreal season. But for me it hasn't happened.

Rory having a poor season is also going to put a major downer on it too - as he is far more exciting in every way. Like Matsuyama - fine golfer and that , but you would switch over to Match of the Day watching him.

After all that - the top lads have been up and down , but if say Day , Fowler or Hediki win this - still a great list of major winners this year.

Garcia winning The Masters was the highlight of the year - we knew it was a great night, but the rest of the season has been rubbish to be honest (IMO).

Watch them all shoot the lights out for the rubbish end of year cash events.

Well, the saying goes don't follow a bad shot with a stupid shot. Wtf was Jason Day thinking the outcome of this was going to be? And where was his caddie? He got lucky he didn't hurt anyone.

If it keeps the cameras off him tomorrow, rack em up Jason.

Terrible stuff. Louie O showed the way to play it

never seen a pro at his level act so unprofessional.
Actually going around like a spoilt rich kid at a major.

    Sad.
