As fr tod said above “Horan brought a Mayo team that were a laughing stock and turned them into a force to be reckoned with“
What has Rochford done bar play the same team and won nothing since he took over.
Of course all that matters is winning are you happy just to get to a final

By your own token, Horan did nothing either since he didn't win with them.
Horan did revolutionise the team, but they didn't win an All-Ireland, so by your own standards, where does that leave him?

Rochford has brought through players. Brendan Harrison, Paddy Durcan and Diarmuid O'Connor all came on a lot under him and he gave Andy Moran his chance when everyone had already decided he was done, and he had his best year yet. James Durcan got his chance this year and I'm sure we'll see more of him next year, along with a couple of others from the U20s side.

As I said, Rochford got us as close to an All-Ireland as we ever got and he did it with an older team than Horan had. Freak incidents and coming up against a great team prevented us from getting over the line. And yet you're still calling for his head in the hope that Jim McGuinness will want to take over the job. Until you can provide a realistic alternative, who is better than the manager who got us within a whisker of an All-Ireland the last couple of years?

Can you post those alternatives I asked for yesterday please ?

Who is better right now ?

Jimmys Winning Matches seems to be his stock/only answer.

IMO Rochford has enough credit in the locker to get a crack at another year.

Anyhow it's all about the under 20s today, lovely day in Dublin.

By all accounts this Jimmy Hyland will take some watching.

Never got an opportunity to watch the other semi final.

Kildare looked very strong from what I watched, very strong... Definitely a case of hope than expectation for me but it would be a great lift!

    Tg4

At this stage Naughto it looks like Rochford is staying so as well to embrace it

He will have the club championship to look at players
A full winter to train team

No excuses next year. Connacht title or bust for me

I think he has been a bit unlucky with some things and has made some brave and correct calls that Horgan just ignored for some finals /big games

He has also made some terrible calls /substitutions at vital times

The super 8s this year doesn’t fill me with too much dread . Just hope Dublin don’t get caught and come back hungrier next year

We are still there or thereabouts and the break will do everyone no harm
I hope he is selecting his own back room team though .
Strange for them all to leave and him to stay but that’s just the way it has fallen for him it seems

It looks like I’ll have to.
Anyways the u20 today hope we can do it but heard one of the players got bad news this morning. Not putting up what I heard it will come out after

Really poor defending for that goal...6 point change in 3 minutes :(

Yep , Mayo are pretty poor at the back it seems.

Some fine points from play though, the two wither side of the free were great.

Backs could of conceeded 4 or 5 goals already only for Kildare going for points instead, they keep leaving 2 forwards on one back. Appears to be a real lack of coaching with these backs.

Decent forwards keeping us in it.

Really good game of football. Kildare probably should be more than 4 up. Their kickpassing and score taking is a joy to behold . Mayo’s change in kickout strategy came just in time . Still in it . Just . Their keeper gives me hope !

Ah, Aaron O'Neill is an excellent keeper. He seems very "flamboyant" today in some of his decisions though! Needs to settle

Full back line is getting a roasting.Kildare have seriously good forwards.

Got to get more ball into Conroy,Siskin and O Donoghue.

Oisin McLoughlin needs to be laying the ball off to the shooters. Will likely need another goal.

Ross Egan has an unusual routine in taking frees.Takes quite an amount of time.

Our restarts are far too slow.

Back line is poor though at one stage it was game over until or goal we have a chance but Kildare will prob see it out

There probably will be more goal chances . Mayo had better take theirs .

If I was a betting man I’d bet he is a soccer goalie .....

I think this game is gone, Kildare the better team and switches too slow from us.
    6 point game now.

This is a very good Kildare team.

Well he is a soccer goalie about to win an All Ireland football Championship having been one of the pivotal figures along the way

Jordan Flynn will be seeing a nice long ban for that.

He was excellent second half to be fair
The way he comes for a high ball and his kicking style is what I’m alluding to by the way
