Can someone not on his world famous ignore list ask him if mayo are the second best county for the past decade why were so many afraid of getting Tyrone or Monaghan in the draws.
I expect the usual go to mayo response though.mayo don’t focus on the league,Galway can’t win in Dublin, mayo have been in this number of finals, dublin Gaa is corrupt with money thrown at it etc etc.

Because at the end of the day everyone likes the easy draw.

If there was a Monaghan or Tyrone thread worth talking about them the folks there would be afraid of getting Mayo.

If Mayo get Monaghan or Tyrone in Round 3 so be it, Mayo are well capable of winning it.

And because it's still June and many have the theory that Mayo are more beatable in June than August.

More I think of this, the more I think that if Tipp are really up for it they could win.
First thing, target COC and DOC. They are hot headed, a man down is a man less to worry about.
For the record I hate sledging and I hate off the ball play, everybody has work to go to the next day, but for some teams and individuals it is a part of their game.

Bypass midfield, with long kick passing, take SOS and AOS out of it, tire them out and let them chase shadows all day long, a tired mind makes mistakes, one as simple as AOS taking on a 69th min 50 yard hail mary when an option would be to get it to Andy, (if Andy is even playing at that stage of the match)
Keep mayo backs on the back foot and makes sure that they stay there and not marauding up and taking scores.

This is going to be a cracker of a game and I hope it deletes the memory of the crapfest that was the Galway game.

    So how to beat Tipp?

    That works both ways though.

What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander and all that.

There is a reason why certain Dublin players rarely finish the game, when they play Mayo. It is rarely because they realised at half time, that they left the immersion on. There will be more than a few Tipp lads who will have their cards marked & Mayo have been at this lark a lot longer than Tipp have. They have been much, much more successful at it too, than any other team in the country. ( Apart from Dublin obviously. ;) )

Has Adam Gallagher opted off the panel to go to America for the summer as reported in The Independent?

This game could offer an assessment of where we are without Tom Parsons. Tipperary midfield will be more mobile than Limerick. Don't think the two O'Sheas together will be an option given their lack of mobility. Will Vaughan and Aidan O'Shea be tried? Not sure what the story is regarding Diarmuid O'Connor after the red card against Galway but would he act as a third midfielder?
The Quinlivan issue to be looked at as well. I heard Cafferky actually had a decent game against Limerick but he's not the man for big forwards, imo.

Diarmuid essentially plays midfield anyway so I wouldn't be against playing him there alongside Seamus.

I think Rochford will go with Seamus and Vaughan (if fit).

I'd love to see Diarmuid tried at the edge of the square for a while. His goal against Kerry and his point against Galway come to mind, he's a real option as an inside line ball winner.

It's robbing Peter to pay Paul a bit given his tireless running out the field, but maybe a new positional change might revitalise him in a way. It's easy to forget he didn't even start the AIF

Not that "positions" are as important as they once were, I would like to see Coen thrown into Midfield. We all know this team isn't getting younger and we're not learning much but putting Vaughan in there. Time for Coen to really step up imo.

Is he capable though? The jury's out I think. I like him as an impact sub and there's nothing wrong with that role either.

Don't think he's playing well enough ATM.

I suggested that on here after the AI defeat last year as one way to freshen up the team. I would have tried it during the league if I was manager.

Jury is out but I think it's time to throw him in and see what he makes of it. Strikes me as a person who might handle the responsibility well but who knows. I do think it would be best to find out though. Younger legs in midfield are needed over the coming years.

Limerick had only 1 midfielder TBH, Treacy, and he was very good. The other guy plays hurling, never heard of him playing football before or didn't even know he did, I kid you not.
Cafferky decent..?? Pat Holmes would still be decent if he played against that opposition.

Pressrun never even mentioned Limerick's midfield!

Caff did have a decent game. Nobody said he was playing against good opposition.

He did actually.!! mentions that the Tipp midfield will more mobile than Limerick's. I agreed that he maybe right, as Limerick had only 1 midfielder and that the other was a non-entity (through no fault of his own).
It was funny to hear the few Limerick fans that were there shouting at Treacy to 'take them on' any time he had the ball as they knew that both O'Shea's have 'no legs'.

Seamie has been a fine midfielder over the years but he is ageing now.
Not sure what his brother's excuse is, as he is still in his 20's.

One hundred percent agree with you re Seamie.

Aidan O Shea is six foot four and even whilst in optimal condition which he undoubtedly is weighs in around 14 and a half stone to 15 stone.

So it's no newly discovered revelation that with such a physique he's not blessed with pace and lightning mobility.

Same was exploited in 2013 final so unless mother nature's genes can be modified he doesn't require any excuse.Any implication that he isn't fit simply doesn't stack up.

I do agree with you that Ger Cafferkey was average enough against such opposition as you mentioned.

Best of luck to our under 20s who face Roscommon tomorrow in the Connacht final at 13.00 in the Hyde.

That's an early start considering the final is a 4.00 kick off.

2 periods of extra time and a kicking competition could be needed although it's a final so that shouldn't apply.

    Great stuff.

A great performance from what I seen on the radio. A much needed win too, another crop of underage talent wouldn't go astray in 2-3 years.

Probably never say this again. Delighted Mayo won. After the s***e that went on in our game against Roscommon ye couldn't of bet them by enough. That Galway loss will be a sore point for a while.

Bloody hell that's a hell of a result, gave them a right walloping. So much for a wide-scale crisis at underage

    Great result.

I'm pretty pessimistic about how things are going at underage but delighted to be proven wrong today at least.
