Lads doing an overnight in Ballincollig next week and the hotel wanted 27e for breakfast. So need a recommendation for breakfast somewhere round there. I'm heading for Bandon for half 9 so maybe there's somewhere alongbtge road?

Ask at reception when you check in. Last time I stayed I was room only(like you I did not want to pay nearly €30 for it) but asked at reception when checking in and only pay a few euros extra.

I'd say a few burrito shacks dotted around the country would do well.

Westwing in Tuam, had a 3 course on the way home the other evening for 19.95 that was fit for a king in fairness. Quality.

Yeah booked Oriel house it was only 80e on booking for the room it was 107e if you added breakfast. I'll keep an eye out for that applegreen. There's always McDonald's for breakfast if I'm really stuck.

Is that price single or double occupancy ? Check your booking.

That's an aweful price. E27 for brekkie. I'd be asking the manager to explain that one by email. Tell him your shocked.

Normally 10e for brekkie in most hotels especially business rate.

Talking to a finance lad yesterday and seems motor industry taking a wobble a bit like 2008 for 2nd hand sale

Lot of english 2nd hand cars appearing with sterling fluctuations:)
Then again their used cars are driven on far better roads (courtesy of their taxpayer) so therein lies the reason for most of the value.

Yes he did say a lot of Audi and BMW sitting on Irish forecourts. But he said they were quiet at the motor end of stuff compared to last few years.

Off topic I know but there's apparently a huge bubble being created in the motor industry here atm with pre reging and bloated hire fleets chasing rebates. Could be some very cheap cars for sale in the near future. One of the neighbours son was home with his family a couple of weeks ago and paid more for the hire of the car seat than the car.

If in Waterford try kyoto just down the street from main city centre shopping mall. All sorts of Asian cusine with a bit of an emphasis on sushi.

I was told to try Brown's on the Green in Tyrrellspass too. Anyone ever try it?

Ok and big carpark but The Pillar House (Gibbons) would be considerably better IMO.

Wheelocks on the Oulart side of Enniscorthy.

Very good food there in just the right portions.

Apparently there's farm animals and a forest walk too but I didn't venture out to that side of the restaurant.

When the bypass is open it'll be close to the offramp for the town.
It's kind of a posh affair.

    Yep.:) And napkins.
And a big flat plate the size of a table.

I got basically a posh burger and chips.
Big homemade chunky burger in a bun with filling and chips hand cut with their jackets on and side serving of coleslaw.
The type you'd have to use a knife and fork for.

The folks got a bacon and cabbage, and chicken and caeser salad and garlic bread. There was the offer of pork on the menu with the chicken but she ordered without.
The whole lot came to e39.45.

But the food quality is very good.
You'd be full leaving, without it being overdone.

Edit: lovin the comedians on here. :)

Linnane's Lobster Bar New Quay in Clare. Some of the best seafood I've ever had.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,857 ✭✭✭enricoh

Lobster bar - ooh la la!
I've given up on eating seafood out in restaurants. Its usually either frozen, small portions or overpriced. Sometimes you hit the jackpot and its all 3!!
A lad sells stuff dead fresh out of the harbour near me in balbriggan n i get a hape of fish for e20
Last real good value meal i had was penny hill pub in lucan. Wings n roast beef - that many chicken wings came out i was butted after them! Great portions, tasty n cheap

Generic restaurants, yes; But there are spots like Linnane's that still serve up fresh stuff and you can tell. There's two spots in Barna as well by the pier that are excellent.

Bramley Lodge across the road from Fota Island is very good for lunch. Another one in Cork is that rotisserie place in Washington Street, Spit Jacks or so.

Fureys bar on the enfeild Kinegad road. If you get a fine day sitting out by the canal is lovely

    The Hammlet Johnstownbridge

    Farm to fork Athboy

The forge between Carnaross and Virginia (don't roll up in your mart gear though)

    Dunderry lodge

Fureys and the hamlet are both great spots close to me. The station house in edenderry also a great spot.
