Oh sweet. Can't wait to see them again :)

Nice one. James Murphy said at EP that they would be back in Ireland in 2017 so was hoping we would get them in the 3Arena. Just hope it isn't on a week night like so many gigs are.

presumably there'll be an official announcement soon.

1 night at the 3Arena probably?

Ally Pally, great venue and just 10 mins from me!! Sweet!

I'm going to a gig there in December as well. Does it make sense to still stay somewhere centrally if the gig is there? It's on a weekend night so we'll stay over and go out after the gig. Sorry to slightly derail the thread.

Will we get one night in the 3Arena or a few dates between Dub-Belfast-Cork?

Happy to help. Ally Pally is about a ten min bus ride from Finsbury Park tube which goes central. It's pretty well connected so whatever works best for your I guess. Perhaps stay near Kings X as plenty of budget hotels around there!? Let me know if you need more help!

Do people think there's a chance they might play EP again?

Was thinking that myself when I saw no Irish date, they'll have to arrive a week early but hasn't James been at every EP in recent years in some form or another?

there is almost zero chance they'll play.
and about the same chance that Despacio will be there either.

James or Al might do a DJ set I suppose.

Surely they are coming to Ireland on this tour after saying last year that they would be back in 2017. Even though EP seems to fit the bill schedule wise (and considering EP are announcing new acts on Friday), surely there is no chance, has the same headliner ever played two years in a row?

It would be a bit lazy to have them again this year at EP but is there any other festival that Murphy seems to be at every year without fail in some form or other?

It's like the annual migration of the lesser bearded sonic warbler.

Seems like a second date has been added in London. Would love to know if they're playing here! Or just try and get tickets for somewhere else.

Same boat. Would rather not have the hassle of travelling. Sunday 23 is free in 3 Arena however.

I'll wager that they play here around November or start of December.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,172 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

They'll definitely do at least one night in the 3 arena, hopefully 2 nights. Tickets could be tough to get if it's just 1 night, they went down very well at EP last year.

I really hope they dont announce for a few weeks :pac::pac::pac: So broke after my holidays and already got tickets for QOTSA and still need to grab Royal Blood and Rise Against tickets

Doubt it. They are back in the States for gigs from 17th October right through until 23rd December, so id say it would need to be end of September.

I don't know why people are assuming something will be announced. They've announced the European tour, they're not playing here. Why would they hold back on announcing just the Irish gig?

  • Registered Users Posts: 593 ✭✭✭dmm82

I really can't see them doing a european tour and not coming here. James himself said it at EP last year that they'd be back this year. I'll be devastated if they don't.

Does anyone think there's any chance they could be announced again for EP?

I'm still hoping but I'm losing faith as it gets closer

James Murphy was on Annie Mac's show last night.

I only heard a snippet but the full interview is here and no doubt she asked him about tour plans.

Oh god, the memories of Despacio at EP 2015. What a setup, what a weekend

Why wouldn't they announce it at the same time as the other gigs? I was looking forward to them coming more than any other gig I'd potentially see this year, but saying "I'll see you next year" while on a high at the end of a gig isn't a legally binding contract.
