Can’t believe this thread only has 7 pages?! Is no one watching this show, it’s classic HBO!

Im assuming most people are going to binge watch at the end of the 8 week run as opposed to watching per week?

How do you eat yours?? Im watching per week :)

    Weekly for me too.

    Weekly for me too.

Weekly for me so far but that's just because I'm off sick and have the time

Nope, one per week.Best way to watch imo.

Oh I didn’t realize this was back on! Is there one or two episodes out now?

I think one episode per week is the way to watch it, you’ll appreciate it more. A show like this that has some depth to it needs time to sink in and if you binge watch it in one or two sittings you’ll miss stuff.

I love having the chance to watch something once a week. Add it to the fact that this show is incredible makes it’s all the better

Just watched the second episode there.

I absolutely love the bit with the pimps standing outside the hi hat whilst the girls are inside. The camera seems to linger on them for an absolute age as if to give them an insight into what they put the girls through

I didn't realize that until now. Good observation.

That’s what I love about David simons shows and the directors he works with. There’s no such thing as a filler scene

It's not gripping as it's obviously not meant to be but it's Original and refreshing

There's so much rehashed dross out there now

And they're giving it the full 60 minutes

When the pimp lad goes "They're gonna exploit you!"

I love the way that David Simon can create a seemingly nothing scene and yet put so much meaning behind it. Even McNulty with the flat pack furniture in the Wire, while it may have seemed like nothing at the time, it was loaded with a metaphor and a real picture of McNultys reality at the time.

That scene with CC and Ashley/Dorothy tonight in the bar was top class. It was a real hair standing on head moment.

Wonder where did Gentle Richie (the hippy/commy pimp) go??

Yeah the CC scene was very well done. Really enjoyed this episode thought Rudy was very good in particular, he seems to have the best lines in the show.

I think Lori's story is going to come to a sad and violent end this season as she CC fails to come to terms with her diminishing "need" for his services as her pimp. The writers seem to be setting her up for the age-old trope of the porn starlet who wants to be an actress too...

Great laugh at Larry shooting the porno in this weeks episode
The face on the blond as she realises her box is about to be absolutely wrecked
    :D

Frankie really adds to the comedic value and Black Frankie is such an understated character too.

Anything with the pimp's is utterly fascinating. How they have managed to create the demand for such a role for themselves to fill when they offer nothing is mind boggling.

Check out a documentary about Iceberg Slim. Glamourises it imo but interesting stuff.

The pimps pretended that they offered protection in case a John got lairy and in some cases they were vital while in others they offered absolutely nothing. They were popular at a time when porn as an industry was in its infancy really and the only take for work in pornography was sex workers but toward the end of the decade, porn became more normalised and somewhat glamorous to even the most unlikely of regular women who didnt turn tricks for a living. The increasing amount of parlours more or less finished the street trade and while the macks tried to stay relevant, in truth their days were numbered barring the odd woman who knew no better (like Lori)
