How would you react if you accidentally found illegal porn on a friends computer?

Asked women and they said they would report it immediately and stop being friends with the guy/girl and even disown a family member.

Would this be the same for you? Would you react in a more aggressive manner?

Just to note, illegal in terms of what's considered highly immoral in society; animal, actual rape, child porn etc.

Illegal, like stuff involving children? Ring up the local Garda station and report them. Disowning them would go without saying for me.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I'd probably go "WTF is this **** on your computer?!" and see if they could explain themselves.

    Shallow Grave.

People who consume the images of child abuse are no less guilty of the crime in my eyes. Abuse destroys people (some people). I have a friend who has never recovered from abuse he suffered as a child, he still cant sleep at night without medication, has had several substance abuse problems throughout his life and has never had a real relationship.

Depends on what illegal means, anything involving kids or animals, I'd say nothing to the friend and quietly inform the Gardaí.

In the UK lately, all sorts of porn has been made illegal and there's no way I'd report any of that.

I presume you mean child abuse images? I'd report them to the gardai, wouldn't think twice about it. What else could you do? If you do nothing you are just as bad imo.

Child porn I wouldn't say anything to friend in case they get rid of computer. I'd quietly go to guards and make a statement.

I honestly don't know how anybody who seen this wouldn't report it. I'd be disgusted if I found out somebody I knew found this on someone's computer and turned a blind eye.

If it involves children it's hard to justify anything other than immediately informing the gardaí.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I wouldn't give them a chance to try cover their tracks. If they have a plausible explanation then give it to the authorities and I'll apologize.

What have they banned in the uk

Can you equate bestality with filmed child abuse?

Spanking, whipping, name calling, physical restraint, pee, oral where the person receiving oral is on top, female ejaculation, choking and fisting.

It is a crime to be in possession of porn with any of that in it in the UK, but if I caught someone with anything like that I'd say nothing unless it involved rape/was not consensual.

So generally things that are none of anyone's business if people take part in them cus there not harmful to others? Not my kinda thing really but I think this is invasion of people's privacy and taking away their free will. Are we taking on the same laws?

Edit: WHY is female ejaculation included? Bizarre.

    Animals can't consent. Yes.

The apparent reasoning is those acts "can be abusive" if consent isn't given, so they should be banned even with consent.

The other reason is that "porn gives children a warped view of sex". Which I completely disagree with.

There were a couple of arguments made including, it's pee, it's not real, it confuses children and young adults because it doesn't happen in real life. I don't know enough about female ejaculation to comment on if it is real or not but either way, I don't think it should be banned.

While porn MAY give a false impression of sex, if parents (and schools?) are open and honest in sex education this shouldn't be a problem.

Also, any sex act is abusive without consent. These laws sound like someone on a bit of a power trip wants to control everyone's sex life. This gives me a headache.

If I discovered child abuse imagery I would immediately inform the Gardai. I actually think we are legally obliged to given the child protection legislation that was brought in a few years ago. I'd do it regardless though.

so a video of a guy fúcking a pig is the same as a guy with a child because neither can consent. but if you had bacon this morning, did the pig consent to be killed to be eaten?!

No. I still think that child sexual abuse and animal sexual abuse are similar crimes, child abuse is worse, but they should carry similar sentences.

Of course not. I am trying to make the point that to equate the sexual abuse of an animal to that of a child is grossly inappropriate.

I'm honestly dumbfounded that anyone would try and do so.

That bacon was bred to be eaten. Not had sex with. Don't even TRY to compare eating meat to sexually abusing an animal. Animals can feel fear and pain too.

I eat meat, I think it is natural. If you told me you tortured the animal for fun before killing it I would be disgusted. Killing animals for food is natural and many would argue necessary, raping an animal is not natural or necessary.

I disagree, sexual abuse of children and sexual abuse of animals are what is grossly inappropriate.

I'm sorry but I find that comment truly appalling.

Both are obviously wrong, but if you can't acknowledge that to sexually abuse a child is a crime of much more gravity then I just don't know what to say...

Many studies have shown the majority of people would rather be murdered than raped, especially females.

I don't understand how you can say one rape is worse than another. Ffs. Can you not treat two different crimes with the same severity.

WE don't slaughter animals with just a slit throat.

There is plenty of evidence to show that the Gardaí will kick the $h!te out of anyone they arrest caught with child porn. Harm a woman and you will leave the station heavily bruised, harm a child and you will probably have something broken.

I literally can't believe that someone is trying to say that raping a child is not worse than raping a animal.

I'd be ashamed to say such a thing.

What you are essentially getting at is, you would report the child porn immediately but give someone a chance to explain away animal porn?

Edit: it is unnerving to hear someone wouldn't want any sexual crime punished as severely as possible.

actions against animals do not carry the same sanctions as against children, Thats a fact of life . Morally the arguments are all over the place as it depends on where you place animals in the scale of things

equating the two is not correct either.

I do remember prisoners once threw boiling water on a guy who killed a girl.

Hand back the laptop and report them. I really REALLY cannot stand cruelty to children and animals. It fills me with rage. If they are not responsible let them prove it to the cops. If they are not responsible they are at least aware and haven't said anything and that is just as bad IMHO.
