I also notice the 5 is still on 1 Dec 17 security patch. What with Meltdown and Spectre, it would be nice to see an update.

Is there even any known exploits for those issues?
Besides the fear mongering, is there any need to worry?

Genuine questions by the way :)

No known exploits in the wild to the best of my knowledge

    Thought as much.
That doesn't meant that one is not waiting on the horizon though, so the sooner, the better with the patch :)

Yes ... once it's not an Intel-style patch which drastically reduces performance, increases instability and is eventually withdrawn for reworking :)

Google released a patch for the Pixels last month, so hopefully it'll be no biggie.

I was so impressed with the phone at the beginning, mainly due to the battery and the fact it lasted 2 days.
Now my battery drains so fast that I am unable to get 2 days out of my phone, I am so unimpressed, is anybody facing the same?

Is it the 5 or 5T?

My 5T lasts as long as ever -would be easy enough to get 2 days out of it if I tried.

I suggest it's either something you installed or your network provider coverage is not strong enough in your area (or a mast is down), forcing the phone to work overtime.

It's the 5t indeed, like yourself I was getting 2 days out of it and I was delighted.

I have Eir and their coverage is good enough.

I will delete some apps and the weather widget I am using, if no improvement then I will clear all data, wipe everything and start from scratch.

Weird things like that can be down to billing system edge cases with orphan/zombie data sessions that are "alive" on network elements being closed after a certain timeout. Even if your phone is off at the time, the way that the billing record is constructed may make it appear as though your phone had been generating data record at the time even though you may have stopped hours earlier. It shouldn't happen often though so if it's a regular occurrence I'd say to contact your mobile operator to investigate further

Hi all OPO 5 user here.

Recently, likely since the last firmware update (I'm on Build number ONEPLUS A5000_23_180129) all alarms whether timed alarms i.e. set to go off at 22:30 or on a countdown i.e. set to go off in 20 minutes are being played through the phone ear piece rather than the speaker resulting in very ineffective alarms!!

Anyone else experiencing or know of this as an issue?

The speaker functions normally otherwise ie I can play music through it etc.

I'm on the same build as you, but my alarms appear to be working correctly.
They woke me up this morning for sure!

I don't even know if it's possible to purposefully route alarm volume through ear piece, so this must be a bug that you've unearthed.
Have you tried the OnePlus forums to see if others are having the same issue?

Yeah no issues for me on that build either but it seems that you might not be alone ...

    https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/ringtone-and-alarm-sometimes-come-from-the-ear-piece-speaker.705168/

Try clearing cache from recovery menu and then scanning for any new updates

    Thanks for the pointer.

It looks like receiving a WhatsApp call somehow triggers this behaviour and I did unusually receive a WhatsApp call recently.

The two step fix (possibly temporary until another WhatsApp call is received) is to:-

    1. Go into Settings -> Storage & Memory -> Click on and wipe Cached data.#
    2. Power off the phone, boot into recovery (hold the Volume Up + Power button), go through the initiation ref choosing language etc and cycle the options until you get Boot to Recovery and in there there's an option "Wipe Data and Cache". Choose that and just wipe the cache. Reboot the phone and Bob's your uncle, alarms back being played through the speaker rather than the earpiece.

That little bug could cause people to miss flights etc so important OnePlus fix it in the next update.

    I'd recommend raising it here:

    https://forums.oneplus.net/feedback/?phone_model=OnePlus+5&phone_model_rom=Openbeta+5+180129

Just because it's in a OP3T forum, doesn't mean it's being looked at as a bug. Could be a WhatsApp issue too I suppose but would need to check those steps on a different phone to find out.

FWIW my young lad accidentally called me on WhatsApp earlier so I thought the ear piece problem would return but I just tested the alarms and they are coming out the speaker fine. If indeed related to receipt of a WhatsApp call t seems to be intermittent.

Anyone notice any issues after updating to Oreo?

No issues from my side, the battery usage is unchanged.
last full charge happened exactly 2 days and 15 hours ago, screen time is 5 hours and I have 20% of the battery left.
Main elements using my battery are Screen (21%), Wifi (16%), phone idle (11%) and android system (6%).

Bluetooth not connecting to some devices as good as it was.
Also when using Bluetooth if I adjust volume on my phone it doesn't go up on the device it's connected to.

Also getting a lot of data roaming lost notifications when out and about.
Battery wise, I think is not as good, but not by much so still happy enough with it.
    Btw it's a 5t I have.

Here is a referral link with 20 quid worth of accessories in case you need it: https://oneplus.net/ie/invite#EWVTONRIHY450MT

I personally recommend either a case worth 20 quid as they are decent (I am using one) or an extra dash charger as it helps charging the phone really fast.

Are these still available from one plus site?

Cant seem to be able to buy directly from them only the 5t.

The original OP5 has been superseded by the OP5T. Main differences are the 18:9 screen and the dual camera no longer features the 2x zoom secondary camera and instead includes a low-light sensor instead although its efficacy is questionable. For the money though, still a good phone.
