So did that option in the Playstore settings not work previously?

Don't see any such option in the Play Store at the moment. Maybe it was there before Christmas but I doubt it and I know that turning off the creation of that shortcut on app install was a feature that others were looking for too.

Playstore ->Menu -> Settings -> "Add icon to Home screen
    For new apps"

    (I have it unticked)

Nah dude! Not there, not an option. Maybe in times gone by but I'm not going to time travel to find out ;)

It's part of Launcher settings now, added in Oreo beta 4 panda :)

I know - it was my post saying as much from 8 days ago that got Gunther onto the topic! :)

Agh! My stupid eyesight! I thought you were asking the question, even though you posted the patch notes for beta 4 last week!

    Nevermind! :D

My point is, the option is there in Playstore settings -it has always been there. It is there now. I can post screenshots if needed.

It's no longer in the playstore settings for users of Android 8.0 :)

It now resides as a launcher setting, which oneplus didn't accommodate until beta 4. As I'm still on beta 3 myself, I can't turn it off at all, but that's my own issue!

Android 8!? Where have I been? I'm on 7.1.1 and there's no update available.
Did you get it from some site? Is it stable?

On the original OP5 - not sure what Oreo situation is for the OP5T. May not yet be available although I think they've started the Open Beta, which you can try. Have a look in the downloads section of https://oneplus.net/ie/support (although there seem to be connection issues with it right now)

I just rolled back to 7 from 8.
Bluetooth audio issues in the car with Oreo.

If anyone else is having these bluetooth problems, they are fixed in the latest Beta

    I'll be honest with you.
I use BT everyday, and I've had all the betas, and I've not had a single BT issue.
But, I'm glad the new beta has fixed the issue for you, I probably couldn't get by without it myself :D

I only had an issue when using it in the car. Worked fine connecting to my laptop and headphones. Lots of complaints about the car issues on the Oneplus forums, so good that they addressed it fairly quickly.

Whenever I have bluetooth issues inevitably it's down to my daughter's iphone thinking it can march in, take over the shop and trash the furniture. Even long after the iphone is no longer about, most devices have difficulty freeing themselves for anything else.

Has anyone else found that their battery life is much worse in the last few days?

I'm using it less yet the battery is dying faster!

Nope. Have you downloaded any new apps recently? Have you downloaded a batter monitor app to figure out what's using up most of your battery?

Same here. slight decrease in the battery's life and my usage is the same as before or even less.
I didn't download any new app in the last couple of weeks.

Yes, noting changed app wise but my battery is dropping faster 3 days in a row. (OP5T)

I've been using mine a lot more the last few days so I'm nearly out of juice now but don't think I'm seeing any battery drain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,851 ✭✭✭ILikeBoats

I've been noticing the same on my 5t. Usually get home from work with 50-60%, getting home all week on 30-40%

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 651 ✭✭✭Gunther_Gloop

No noticeable drain here. 64% as I type @ 22:13.

For those with a 5t.maybe better to post in the 5t thread. I've only had mine 2 weeks, no problem here

I've just had OxygenOS 5.0.2 pushed to my 5, and it comes with Face Unlock. Works very well, but it's hardly that big a labour saver over the fingerprint scanner.

It's super fast alright, but I turned it off after a day or so, as I prefer to be able to read the lockscreen notifications :pac:

Turn off Auto unlock when the screen is on. This means you need to swipe for face unlock to work

At that point, you need to unlock the screen and then swipe before face unlock kicks in. As slickly implemented as this feature is, it seems to me that it's no improvement on the fingerprint scanner in terms of speed and ease in unlocking the device.

I suppose dispensing with the fingerprint scanner in favour of face unlock is probably the next evolution.

I also notice the 5 is still on 1 Dec 17 security patch. What with Meltdown and Spectre, it would be nice to see an update.
