Seems we can't deal with terrorism in the way Europe has been dealing with it. Perhaps it's time to take a leaf out of Trump's book

RIP to the innocent life that was lost

They would love to see le pen in power . And the destruction of the EU.

Russia loves to play the long game between internet attacks and behind the scenes operations.

People think the states are big players .

    Meet putin

I'm sorry this can't be a serious post?

Plenty of reports ISIS have been flooding into Europe the last few weeks on the run from having their arses handed to them in Syria and Iraq. All this was flagged up from various security and yet Europe stands still stunned like a dear in the headlights.

Sad news. Imagine the state of emergency will be extended beyond July at this rate.

    Does this surprise you?

Look at how mainland Europe reacted back in 1992 at the outbreak of the Bosnian war. Rabbit in the headlights. Let's talk and talk and talk and talk. And wring our hands.

It was up to the Americans and British to clean up that mess.

The financial and political benefits could be astronomical.

Maybe Putin didn't have anything to do with it, but he is doing one of those Russian knee dances right now, guaranteed.

No, how could they possibly get through those REALLY secure security checks... I mean they check dental records... the system just can't be cheated.. impossible..

BS. I'm sick of it, lets call Islam what it really is; a religion made up of a portion of peaceful, law abiding citizens but contaminated by a mass of extremists with views that can never and will never be compatible with modern democracies...

Is Northern Ireland safe enough to visit yet?

Yeah it is not like France has had a legitimate problem with radical jihadist terror in the recent years or anything.

    Must be that Putin fellow.

It's only the blind that can't see Russia has been spending hundreds of millions in its quest to spread fear and cyncism across the world via the internet.

The trolls swallow it up like it's Christmas.

You don't think the hard fast break up of the EU is in russias dreams

    Yeah okay.

This can't be a serious post.

Just like the Americans used their money to inflict decades of its interest in the globe. Russia is at it too and has been for some time

    Wake it up.

The state of Emergency in France is the new normal, the low level of painful attacks now will be remembered fondly as better times in years to come.

Walked down the Champs Elysees just a few hours ago. Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but when we got off the metro at the Arc De Triomphe earlier, one road was closed off with soldiers redirecting traffic. There was a huge bang, and 10 minutes later the road was open again. We figured it was a controlled explosion that might be fairly common.

What does religion have to do with an armed robbery?

What does religion have to do with an armed robbery?

What armed robbery? This won't be marked down as crime, robbery, drug related, mental illness, whatever the standard is across the border. We aren't in Germany, the French authorities tried covering up the very first lone wolf attacks back in 2014 and haven't tried since. Unlike Germany they have a population and an investigative media that hold them to account.

Were russians involved in the bombing of St petersburg just the other week too? The people behind these attacks are always mentally ill ISIL 'soldiers', no russian conspiracy

    What armed robbery?

Police sources have said that they believe it to be an armed robbery gone wrong.

If it is an armed robbery why is President Hollande holding a crisis meeting with the interior minister and prime minister?

Would he really do that over an armed robbery?

The one where the Police didn't know it happened until the suspect got out of his car, approached their vehicle and shot it up and it seems that he came all the way from Belgium to do it, as there is nothing worth stealing in Belgium.

It is easy once you sledge hammer that square peg into the round hole.

Sounds legit. if you were to pull off an armed robbery the best place to do it and make a clean get away would be in the centre of Paris while it is crawling with heavily armed soldiers police three days from an election that makes the area even more of a target than it usually is.

Mind you, with the election so close maybe the French establishment have been having a word with Merkel's PR people after all about how you cover an attack up.

I wonder what religion the attacker was.

Link about armed robbery gone wrong? Reading sky news right now and they say it was a deliberate attack on two police officers by a known criminal

Probably the same one as the attacker in non-EU London the other week.

How come there is no "No Speculation" warning in the thread title ?
Is it the new normal that it is now OK to acknowledge we know who is behind this tragedy ?

***No speculation - See mod warning post #1***

A matter of time until this appears.
