Tell that to the 100 lads in the OP. Occasionally, the oppressors have bigger sticks/guns. Personally, I agree with you 100%, but that isn't an option for everyone.

There's a hierarchy of countries as far as I can see:

Britain/US/Aus/Europe/Canada etc
Japan/SKorea etc
S America etc
....
...
Likes of Africa, the congo, chechyam, phillipine, pakisatn etc


Proof: If 2 people die in America it would get precedence over 12000 in africa on the likes of rte. They should be asjamed of thesmelves.

Yeh I suppose you're right. People don't really seem to care whats going on in Russia. St petersburg bombings received remarkable little coverage considering what the reaction would be like if a similar ISIS bombing occurred in west europe

There's so many different forms of right wing insanity in this thread. Between legitimising the policy and using it as an excuse to complain about gay rights and victim blaming. While the other lot are using it as an excuse to target every single Muslim.

Perhaps if we calibrate our discussion more tightly toward the on-goings in Chechnya - what do people believe we should or can do?

Given my knowledge of the region I'm highly sceptical about the efficacy of any attempt to bring international pressure to bear, nor do the domestic authorities seem to be particularly inclined to stop such proceedings (excluding those authorities actively perpetrating them of course). Seems there is little else to do but try and pick up the pieces and offer shelter to those who can escape. A little less moral relativism on our part might also go a long way.
