I've a feeling this year could be similar to 2013, but this time with Galway rising to win the all Ireland at last.

Tipp will be very dangerous In the backdoor, they will have to beat kk/Galway in quarters most likely

    Long, long way to go

Till lost to cork by 10 first game 2010 and won AIF. Cats hockeyed by galway 2012 in Leinster...

Could have to face them in the qualifiers either, straight away this opens up the championship, just like it did that back in 2013 after we saw one upset they just kept on coming.

Great win for Cork, they played a smart game, swarmed the Tipp forwards and forced them backwards, sacrificed conceding the points to prevent any goal chances. Created space and havoc in their forward line and Tipp never looked comfortable no matter what type of ball came in. It shows the talent of Tipp that they still put up 1-26 on a day when not a whole lot went wrong for Cork.

Waterford will have mixed feelings about that, they probably expected a Tipp win but Cork will be a different kind of challenge. The momentum of that game will be a big plus for Cork.

I'd love to see Galway or Limerick win an All Ireland after my native Clare. Limerick hurling is in a very sad state so I'm pinning my hopes on Galway.

I completely agree, Tipp are going to be smarting after today, I predict they'll make it to Croke Park in Sept.

You don't go out in a league final and lose by 16 points without their being problems in the team.

You're less likely to give a good performance after a poor one, or a poor one after a strong one.
There's enough evidence of teams performing to extreme levels week in week out to back that up.

All that 2016 showed was that KK have deteriorated, Tipp didn't get any better. Frankly they were fortunate that both Canning and Tuohy went off injured or they might not have made the final at all.

I don't think Cork have got significantly better either, maybe they've improved a bit but they're still missing what they have been for 10 years, a solid spine from 3/6/11/14.
There was never any doubt they had skilful, quick hurlers.

Serious game of hurling. Dublin not even involved today and my nerves were shot.

Great watch. Tipp in the back door is no easy prospect however.

    Eh?

Ellis and lehane were their best two players! Horgan had his best game from play in ages and cahalane was as good as I've seen him

This was miles better than anything cork have produced in years. "Not significantly better"??

Now it remains to be seen whether they can push on yet but there are great signs there. Some outstanding young players. Haven't seen as good a half back line performance since Gardiner Curran and Sean og in their heyday

    Guess who's back!!! Hon Cork!!!

Never believed the hype about Tipp . One win versus Kilkenny and people saying they would go on to dominate for years.

Kilkenny will show if they have gone backwards if a team can beat them twice in a row . Something that's never been done since Cody took over I believe. They are still favorites for me.

Fair play to cork though . Unbelievable work rate today and I hope they can better it versus Waterford because that will be a serious game if they do

Cork lose last year with a whimper 0-22 to 0-13 and this year win with the scoreline 2-27 to 1-26 and we have not improved??!!

Never thought I'd say it but good to see Cork getting back into their stride, another shark in the pool now for the summer, shaping up nicely

Cork found some very talented players in Coleman, Meade, Kingston, Fitzgibbon, etc. It makes for a bright future but one would still have some concerns over their defense and Cooper at midfield. Its not ideal going out to try a win a shootout every game, but fair dues to them, they went up against the champs today and won.

As for Tipp, there's serious concerns over the pace of their half backline, in which none of them finished in their position. Teams will note this. Looking ahead, there could be a potential crisis now for them at cornerback if Cahill deosn't come back. That's an almost certain cruciate injury for Barrett and they don't have good depth after those too. Also I though Michael Ryan handed the initiative to Cork by taking out an extra forward to midfield, it helped the Cork back line settle and gave time to hit good ball up to the forward, while also able to crowd Callinan and McGrath.

Overall it was a great game. Be very interesting to see how the Cork attack fairs against Waterford's defensive setup.

I hope any team that plays with a defensive setup are annihilated - it's an embarrassment for the game.

Today's match was a cracker - great for hurling.

Imagine a Limerick vs Cork Munster Final and Dublin vs Wexford Leinster Final

the qualifers would consist of these teams

    Munster
    Clare
    Tipp
    Waterford
    Laois/Westmeath/CR Champs

    Leinster
    Galway
    Kilkenny
    Offaly
    Laois/Westmeath

Well it's looking like this could happen with Cork winning today. The qualifiers are going too be tough

Only one of five underdog wins so far! A while to go yet before that prediction comes through. That's assuming Waterford will be favourites to beat Cork, which they might not be I suppose.

A win like this for Cork is good for other counties. It will give them a little more belief that the best can be beaten.

Nobody will get ahead of themselves but it was a big statement. Delighted to see Lehane to the fore, he's a great player to watch.

People need to stop getting Carried away. It was a great win fair dues to cork. They need to back it up now, in 2014 and 2015 they had big wins over limerick and Clare, yet didn't back it up in their next games.

Tipp have been down this road before in 2010 & 14. I'd still be very confident Liam Mc Carthy will spend the winter in kk, Tipp or Galway. It's way to early to be suggesting it's the year of the underdog aka 2013

A few weeks ago the media started going into overdrive about Galway, now it will be Cork . Be interesting to see how both cope with the inevitable hype. Cork were very good today. Fizgibbon, Lehane and Ellis in particular. Great pace in their team . Tipp looked a little flat and John McGrath and Callahan weren't as influential as usual. Fair play to cork , they were excellent in the league match in Walsh park and reinforced it today. Interesting to see if Waterford will go 15 on 15 against them

You should have hung around for the second half. Cork totally withdrew their forwards playing into the breeze.

Is that the same half they scored 2-13?

What an advert for the game of hurling, end to end stuff, high scoring, 2-27, 1-26, brilliant stuff.

They scored 2-12 in the second half, not bad IF they withdrew their forwards.

Actually you're misinterpreting what I said.

I agree Cork got better, I just don't think they've got significantly better(ie AI challengers).

I think it's more about Tipp being weaker than people thought than Cork being better than expected.

Anyway like Galway, Cork don't have to get much better with KK coming back to the pack.

Tipp vs Clare All Ireland final i think with Tipp winning

Tipp for Munster and Wexford for Leinster

Laois and Kerry to come through the leinster round robin. Kilkenny and Cork to get through from the Qualifers. Waterford, Dublin and Limerick to have below par championship campaigns. Going by the league a few teams need to be different animals in the championship our they will fall behind

    QFs
Galway (leinster runners up) vs Kilkenny
Clare (Munster runners up) vs Cork

    SFs
    Wexford vs Clare
    Tipp vs Galway
Of course if you predict enough things you'll be able to quote one of them later on.

Congrats to the rebels today fully deserved winners.I thought their half back line was outstanding especially in the air, tipps old habit came back to haunt them today they really struggled to win the 50/50 ball and up front cork have some serious attackers who will trouble most defences.Tipp will have to regroup and get bonner back but barrets injury looked nasty he'd be a huge loss if it's serious
Tipp will still have a say in this year's championship but galway/dublin or kk/wx would be dangerous opposition none of them would like to be meeting tipp
