Not a happy Waterford man and we think we will get deff get knocked out in the first round if we draw Kilkenny or Dublin. There's something wrong with us

Is the draw 2morrow morning or next Monday ?

Yeah think there waiting for the prem round game between Carlow and Laois too be played

Could easily just do the draw 2morrow and just have A 'prem round winner' Pod and put it in the Munster bowl.

Think they will be a separate draw before the main one to decide who goes in the Munster side of the draw the prem round winner or Westmeath ???

Don't know if I'd agree that Waterford have the players.

They're far weaker than they were 10 years ago.

Looking at what happened to Kilkenny since Sept its probably a reflection of where they're at that they couldn't beat them then.

You know Kilkenny have beaten Galway comfortably three times in the past two years, yes?

Unfortunately so. Hope the "rebels" are happy that in a year where really anyone could win it they are basically on strike. Well done chaps ...

Who are all the players not playing/not making themselves available to Cunningham? I know there is a bit of trouble but not how many are out.

Why are RTE commentators mispronouncing Conor Lehane's name?.Padraic Lodge on radio today and Ger Canning on TV the last day against Tipperary both calling him Lee Han.Sounds like a Chinese man playing for Cork.

Yes I said this in the pundits thread too!!

Canning always says it like a relative of Lee Chin. Pronounces it "Lee Han"!!

Nearly lost track, but out of last year's panel there are only 5 or 6 left. Mark Shutte came on as a sub for the footballers last week.

Others are playing in States, others are unavailable for some reason or other, This is a year when championship is really wide open and we have fellas refusing to play on basis that they will come back under a new manager and do better. Life and sport is not like that.

Especially so considering Galways abysmal record there. Of course Pearse Stadium is a joy to get out of and is state of the art.

Somebody made the point suggesting Wexford and Galway could play in thurles.
It wouldn't hold any attraction for people because it's obviously a run down stadium and thurles is a bitch to get out of.
Pearse stadium has nothing to do with it, I wasn't suggesting pearse stadium as an alternative was I?
Everyone in Galway knows traffic is bad there.

If people don't like thurles don't take such insult, the "home of hurling" means sweet f-all to anyone I know from outside Munster, and a lot from within Munster too. It's no big deal.

    http://www.hoganstand.com/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=271586

draw takes place Monday 26 June according to hoganstand

to be played on Sat 1st July and the 2nd round is Sat 8th July

there will be 8 teams in it
think there will be a sep draw beforehand to determine which side Westmeath and Carlow/Laois go into too ??

Munster- Waterford, Tipp, Limerick, Westmeath or Winners of Carlow/Laois
Leinster- Kilkenny, Dublin, Offaly, Westmeath or Winners of Carlow/Laois

teams paired off (4x Munster vs 4x Leinster), first team out will have home advantage (teams who played each other already cant play each other again). Round 2 is an open draw (unless teams have previously meet in the championship this year). 2x Round 2 winners will face the prov final losers in the QFS

That's a very sad indictment of Cunningham.Only that much left? The team is definitely crippled so

Semple Stadium may need a facelift, but the pitch is recognised as the best in the country for Hurling.

Yeah I think Mcgrath gambled everything on today and now he has to go far in the championship or he else he will be gone.

For all the great players Waterford have, he has not got the best out of them at all.

one thing i have to say about the man is he is committed to the job and breaths Waterford hurling but hes tactics and man management only got him so far and it may be time to part ways. Id love too see him win an All Ireland with Waterford but its very hard now

Waterfords ego has always been there problem.

They have never walked the walk and became a great team.

A Gleeson today gave a selfish display if I ever seen one. Not good enough at this level.

Usual lazy punditry going on. Cork made 3 straight semis betwen 2012-14, the majority of that team are still there. It's not a new team, they have been revitalised with a few new players and management. The skill has always been there, they just have found a balance now.

Clare v cork will be intriguing, two similar teams. The prize for the winners is huge.

Ah I understand that, unfortunately I was never good enough to grace it!

In fairness the pundits on The Sunday Game highlights acknowledged that a lot of this Cork team have been there a few years.

Gleeson is undoubtedly a very talented player but if ever there was a glory hunter it's him. Time and again he hits pot shots from crazy distances when there are better options to work the ball inside or find a man in a better position.

In contrast Cork players were always playing with the head up and looking for a player who was free, their passing and use of the ball was excellent and their shot selection was much better than Waterford's.

The players he has brought in, mostly under 21 and even a few minors, and the few experienced lads like Rushie and Crummy and Dwyer who have stayed, have not let themselves down. But they are way off being good enough to beat any of the remaining teams other than Leinster round robin winners.

There is huge premium now on winning Munster and Leinster and avoiding the back door so the two finals should be great games. Shaping up to be very good championship and crowds are indication that it has caught imagination.

Long way to go yet, but it seems like Galways best chance to win an AI this year. But its a very open championship, there will be more surprises yet.

There will be huge interest in the provincial finals.

Munster be impossible to get a ticket for and Leinster be over 50,000. And then all sorts of possibilities in the qualifiers! And its sunny ..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,812 ✭✭✭thelad95

I see the QFs have been penned in for the new Pairc Ui Chaoimh and I guess the stadium may well get a football quarter final too.

Pretty underwhelming opening games for the stadium, although cork may well be playing, it'll be nothing like what it would have been had it been Cork in a Munster hurling final.

The following will be the rules for next Mondays 1st round qualifier draw

Munster bowl- Tipperary, Limerick, Waterford and the winners of Carlow vs Laois

Leinster bowl- Dublin, Westmeath, Offaly and Kilkenny

4x Munster bowl vs 4x Leinster bowl
Canister is taking out of each bowl and first team out gets home advantage. Laois vs Westmeath can't happen again as they've played already

Games too be played Sat 1st July
