    The schools under the patronage of the RCC would still be run by the RCC regardless of how many people identify as Roman Catholic, .

    because the State is obliged to provide for education, which means that it's the number of children enrolled in a school determines the amount of funding provided for their education, regardless of the children's religious affiliation or none

    If there are fewer catholics, then the argument that the majority of schools should be under the patronage of the church because the majority of people are catholic, doesn't hold up any longer.
