    Surely this qualifies. Seen the film loads of times, watch for this scene.

    I think the escape from the hospital scenes are very good too.

    Well there's many great scenes in Jaws obviously ;
    But my favourite is when the 3 guys have set off in Quint's boat to find Bruce , and they're sitting in the dead-calm water , with the fishing lines cast out into the sea...
    Everything's silent , Brody's sitting in the chair with the fishing rod harness attached , Quint suddenly notices the fishing reel click ,as if something has caught the line .. hesitation, a heartbeat, and then the reel clicks again ...
    The action kicks off right after that , but it was just the tension being built in those few seconds , with the glance Quint gives the reel when it first clicks seeming to start off the all-consuming battle between men and shark ..if its on tv I don't particularly
    mind if I've missed the start of the movie as long as I get that scene , it's where the movie really starts for me.

    When I think of it Spielberg used something very similar in Jurassic Park ;
    When the kids are trapped in the Jeep , everything goes quiet, then faint vibrations are felt - instead of the fishing reel this time there's a glass of water that starts to ripple - again it's building the tension before the appearance of the monster and the action kicks up a gear ..

    One last one that it reminds me of as well is in the Fellowship of the Ring - when the group are in Moira, Pippin(I think) knocks a skeleton into an underground well - there's a lot of noise and everyone waits with baited breath to see if anyone(thing)has heard them ... there's nothing , and everyone relaxes , but just at that moment there's a faint knock , then a pause , then another knock, then another , a great scene that puts the hairs up on the back of your neck before the action ramps up.
