Have you ever met anyone who genuinely gave you the creeps, without being overtly aggressive or rough?
If so, what was it that made you anxious?

    Do they?

I suppose as I rarely use cash it seems bizarre to me that someone would pay a few grand for a holiday in cash - I like the security of knowing I can reverse the transaction on the credit card if things go wrong.

But living a cash existence must have other implications, for example, presumably you cannot claim any tax credits that you might otherwise be entitled to? Or if you went for a mortgage or loan, you cant declare the extent of your income. What about your pension contributions? Generally lodging cash would be seen as strange for any kind of savings or investment? I got a mortgage recently and had to produce paperwork to show where every penny of my savings had come from. Same for health insurance, house insurance etc... would insurance companies not see it as odd that someone was paying them in cash?

Would you consider a "front" business so that you could file tax returns and square up at least some income with the revenue?

Its interesting that you think its not a lot of money. 50k ish cash per year is close to a salary of 100k.

Half the population earn less than 30k per year, so yes, it is a lot of money.

Presumably your legitimate job provides some income too so you are in the top earning scale alright.

I have a legitimate job and it pays well. I pay tax so I have all areas covered so I don't need to "front" a business.
As I said before the most I'd make is 1200€ on a good week.
There's plenty of bad weeks, There's been weeks where I just about covered my costs.
I don't have lots of spare cash laying around.
    I'm comfortable.
I'm single with no dependants and I enjoy being able to spend my money as I make it. I'm not going to be made feel bad about it.

Thanks for your time and patience in answering all the questions we asked even more so for the questions that were asked in duplicate or triplicate.
The cheque is in the post pacman.gif

Just one final question if I may.

You have mentioned a couple of times that you look foward to seeing some of your customers an I am presuming that these guys are younger than you or in the same age category (i'm guessing that you are late 20's early 30's)

But if you dont mind answering, what is it like for you when you are meeting someone who is their late 60's/70's? Do you get an uneasy feeling and just go through with it for the financial side or do you feel sympathy for them as they maybe never married or possibly widowed.

Yes, plenty of guys when I first started out gave me the creeps.
I've had guys visit me drunk, high, loud, smelly and some just straight out creepy
I'm just glad I'm over all that side of it - the starting out part of it. It's quiet scary and intimidating.

No I don't feel uneasy ! They are gentlemen! Married gentlemen. But yes I obviously prefer seeing younder clients as in younger than 45 anyway

What do you mean by this?

Do you not like questions about managing a cash business?

You mean my own cash business?
I've answered your question and ended it with "I won't be made feel bad .." and yet it was the only line you picked up on and requoted back to me !!!

The friend that knows what you do, did you confide in her/him before you started or was it long after? How do you even start a conversation like that? Were you nervous about saying it?

I never used the terms "feel bad" or "guilty". You said that so I was asking if you didnt like my questions.

I was just curious as to the constraints of having a lot of cash in a world designed to keep tabs on peoples earnings and where places ask questions if you produce money from unknown sources.

If you feel bad or guilty about it thats your own business.

Edit - I see you ninja edited the work guilty out.

Sorry if I touched a nerve, I have always wondered how people hide the earnings in such a business, Im not interested in the morality of it in the slightest.

I knew it would only take a matter of time for someone to come on and take a dig.
I don't have "a lot of cash" , I pay my bills like everyone else. I take holidays, I look after myself and yes I suppose I can spoil myself but I don't flash it around and I certainly don't have spare cash under my mattress. Maybe if I did it full time I might be luckier!!

What about casino owners they are the people you should be directing these questions to

Why do you think I am taking a dig? Im genuinely perplexed? Whats the issue with me asking how you manage the money?

You stated earlier you might make 1200 on a good week - so I averaged that out at about 4k per month and then extrapolated to a yearly sum. Maybe its a bit high, I dont know, only you know the details.

But regardless, 40k-50k a year in cash must be difficult for an ordinary person to handle/hide. You seem insulted, or are insinuating that its not a lot of cash - it seems like a vast sum to me, my after tax take home is a lot less and I have a good salary.

Why are you so defensive about it?

Because I've answered it over and over already ... I spend the majority of it when I get it or soon after! I like to buy nice things. That's just the way it is.

She doesn't have a husband and could live alone. What companies do you mean? hairdressers, beauticians all love receiving cash.

    But you havent answered it?

Are you saying that you are spending about 1k a week on hairdressers, beauty treatments, bills, nice things etc?

I just cant see how that is feasible? Surely your family/friends would notice? You would constantly have new stuff if thats where its going? How would you hide that? My husband notices if I appear with a new handbag.

Do you make pension contributions? In cash? Do you have insurance policies? Paid for in cash? Do companies not ask questions if you pay for things like that in cash?

Yes I am ! No problem to me at all in spending that much money. I am single I've told you that haven't I ?' I have nobody to answer to . My friends and family have always known me to look well.
I don't wear cheap makeup I don't walk around in rags. It's the way I am and the way i want to always be
My household bills are paid weekly .
You're telling me between bills and shopping every week you wouldn't be able to get thru 1000€ ???? Yes you would .

Obviously not everything is paid for in cash no of course not. I do have a bank account and do use cards too.

How long do you think it will take before you have regrets?
And i dont mean about your profession I mean coming on boards to do an AMA and answering all these questions haha. This must be the busiest, most popular thread on boards in years! You should charge per question and you'd be minted!

I don't see why she would need a front business. I can see how easy it would be to go through that amount of cash.... I know I could easily do it if I wanted.

    Hotels x3 per wk/ish.
    Room service
    Travel costs, petrol ect.
Beauty treatments can really add up, hair, nails, waxing & they are just basics... throw in a facial & a massage & your money is going quicker.
Make-up can be expensive if your doing a full face everyday of the week & top up's between clients.
Lingerie can also be very expensive & I'm assuming that she isn't buying it all in Pennys.
    Car & it's up keep.
    Rent/bills
    Putting money by for holidays.
    & not to mention socializing.

A grand a week could go pretty easily if you want it to.

A reminder for everyone that the OP of any AMA is not under obligation to answer every question asked and if your question is not answered, move on. It's likely been answered before or not something OP wishes to answer.

I would think that someone might notice also though. I have a friend who earns half of what I earn after tax.  She constantly has her nails done, hair colored every 4 weeks, mink  lashes, spray tan and at least two foreign holidays a year. I do my nails myself, got mink lashes done once as a treat for my wedding, spray tan only for events. I couldn't afford it all the time, and I've no idea how she does. All of us all wonder where she gets the money for it. Maybe shes an escort too :D[/quote]
or maybe she just has good savings,
    budgets her money differently,
spends it on other stuff then you do.
pays less tax,usc due to being on a lower wage etc.

How easy/hard is it to get into this profession? What advice would you give to any young person considering it?
