Steve: starter looked wow, main of disappearing if beautiful steak, stunning fig pudding.

    More raw meat.

Far from raw, cooked in the waterbath first and finished in the pan. Looked unreal

Has Steve just edged it with his dessert?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 587 ✭✭✭twill

Steve looked disappointed with the comments.

Saliha's starter didn't look very refined to me but the judges love her

    Saliha is the winner.

That duck dish is quacking stunning.

Saliha: kebab but not as you know it, eat me duck (just give me a plate of those skins), decadent looking dessert (almost needs a credit check to eat it)

    Saliha wins.

She's the only one to get outstanding comments for all her dishes

They were loving her stuff..but is the editing too obvious?

Saliha was best on the day. Steve dropped the ball and he knows it. I'll take an order of that kebab and baklava.

I always find the final episode a bit meh! This one is no different.

    Bordering on boring.

Good winner! A couple of very unlucky runners up.

Steve had the best looking food for sure, hats off to him for using so many techniques and trying to push the boat out.
Salihia spice combination though is surreal to eat id say. She had about 20 different ones on her bench.

Over the course of the 2 months I don't think she deserved it but she upped her game for the final

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,687 ✭✭✭Meauldsegosha

Disappointed Saliha won, based on her dishes throughout the show she doesn't deserve it.

    Agree.

Honestly, I'd buy Saliha's cookbook but I don't think any of the finalists really shone in the final.

Steve let himself down. The rabbit 'stew' he cooked yesterday would have been a more suitable dish for the final. Disappointed for him, wanted him to win.
I couldn't help but like Saliha and she really upped her game over finals week so not surprised she won, and to be fair her dishes looked amazing and I'd love to taste them, even if I agree that over the course of the competition I don't think she deserved to win.

It's just my feeling that the drama is supposed to stir up interest. I have no idea if that's the case, just a suspicion, and it's annoying.

Personal profiles - it'll probably be a while before we get to the cooking.

but in fairness its one's choice whether or not to engage with social media

Giovanna: Starter amazing, main sublime, dessert slightly rustic. Was that the slip to cost her?

this always happens (happened) - so much you don't see - time does not allow

The steak was huge compared to what was served is what I was getting at there. The problem of fine dining. Beautiful but tiny.

i just don't think that the pasta looked well with the meat - and I imagine that the textures would not work well either..

@ poochie - I disagree - Saliha was best tonight and while she might not have been the best every night, she improved as the show went on - and for me thats the point - to learn - develop your potential - which she did

TBH I think that Steve is theoretically the best of the 3 but he didn't shine tonight - he had and has learnt unreal techniques and has skill/flare/taste etc - but tonight he didn't shine.. his main let him down.. but he's still great - and is Giovanna - but the best dishes won on the night imo

I expected Steve to win, based on the blurb at the start. Apart from her flavours, I think Saliha's beautiful presentations went a long way in the final decision.

Winner is a one trick pony, spice, spice.

Steve is a far better cook. And should have won.

Saliha definitely deserved it on the day simply by virtue of being the one person to present three faultless dishes that were presented well, but the final is usually when everyone brings out their best dishes and presentation, and everyone's more or less looked like an average day in the competition. I can't even remember seeing someone run out of time in a final as Giovanna did and present a sloppy-looking dessert.

in fairness Saliha is some woman for one... a doctor, a mum, MC champion - and who knows what else - and what age is she?

Oh I agree, Saliha is great. When she was first on I think she said she worked in the area of gastroenterology and wanted to present the kind of food that would keep people healthy. I like her food because it offers a kind of alternative to western meat-heavy food that, while it uses a lot of spice, it's subtle and tasty-looking. I always liked her attitude and she's been the most consistent in the competition.
