If there is a "pop" it'll immediately be followed by multiple rounds of automatic fire in the opposite direction.

isn't it tradition that the president to be and his first lady walk past the crowds down to the podium ...it'll be an opportunity for any potential assassin

How has it been proven that the dossier is inaccurate? It's unverified but I have seen absolutely no proof that it is inaccurate.

Really? There are plenty of factual errors in there which even the likes of CNN acknowledge.
You are basically asking people to prove a negative, which is all but impossible. Its like me saying there are fairies down the bottom of my garden and I saw them. Of course you can call me out on that bull, but then I can retort with the 'prove they are NOT there'...which you can't.

Most people from Glen Greenwald, Patrick Cockburn and even Wikileaks themselves call the dossier a spoof. Those that really want it taken as a gospel of truth are just using it as some sort of anti-Trump batting ball.

Remember those reports of Trump being surprised by the fact that he had to staff his administration himself. Well, it didn't really motivate him. With two days to go he's up to 28 people selected ... that's out of 690 empty positions.

Say what you like about the guy but he can be pretty funny, whether intentional or not it's often hard to tell.

Someof these are great, if a bit bizarre https://www.indy100.com/article/presenting-donald-trumps-best-worst-tweets--Z1r35m__Zg

I don't think so. Yeah he's the most unpopular president elect in recent history but realsitically the guys who are likely to take a pop at a president (right wing / second amendment gun nuts) are all trump supporters. If nobody took a pop at Obama nobody will take one at trump either.

Well, that and it seems reasonable that the Secret Service have figured out how to secure an inauguration site by now...

Not impossible, but probably along the lines of a desperate person seriously off their meds who is terrified that Trump means every word regarding repealing the ACA, if so. That decision could mean life or death to some.

I doubt it'd be Islamic terrorists - he's far too useful. Although that sort of terror group has a bit less control over what people who want to be associated with them choose to do. It would take a very stupid Daesh leader to -order- it, anyway. But I try not to underestimate wholesale stupidity. Likewise, doubt it would be domestic terrorism from nationalistic portions of the far right. He's overall moving towards nationalistic aims so it would be nonsense to kill him. If they didn't shoot Barack Obama, I doubt they'll shoot Trump.

The terrorism elements on the far left lunatic fringe mostly tend to be pretty specific, like PETA or Greenpeace terrorists (and roughly equivalent on the generally far-right is anti-abortion activists of the more extreme type). I can't at first blush see a likely group to spawn an assassin there, although I'm open to correction on that. And bearing in mind that extremists don't -have- to be linked to a specific ideology politically. Just they tend to be influenced from somewhere.

Leaving direct left/right politics aside, one potential possibility is a (probably young male) of a group that feels particularly threatened by Trump and what he stands for, which at this stage is basically everyone that isn't rich, white, male and Republican, but there's a lot of others who are still pretty okay with it, so I'd stick with Muslim or black with a side-option of Native American or gay, although there haven't been many cases of either of the latter two tending to produce people desperate and angry enough to head for violence. While I'd hope that anyone in that situation would realise that all they would do is make things worse for their fellow (whoevers), anyone who's working themselves up to murder a president on Inaugeration Day isn't exactly winning prizes for rational thought. Oh, and the usual nutjobs, since if God became president, He'd still get death threats. It comes with the territory.

    Overall, pretty unlikely.

FWIW Carter started it. Trump hates motorcades, but I doubt he'll be fit enough for the long walk, too. Maybe a buckboard.

The most likely source of an successful assassin would be the intelligence services. Now who has Trump been ridiculing recently ;)

Maybe more the big arms manufacturers if they see this friends thing with Russia developing. Can't see HC having the gumption to do it!

I could see him having beers with Boris Johnson!

I would agree with that. The last anti establishment president was John F Kennedy, when he tried to disband the CIA because of their obsession of invading Cuba and when he produced an order to print money though the Treasury instead of the privately owned Federal reserve then the CIA organized his murder. Wouldn't surprise me if the CIA had Trump killed.

Some shameless fear-mongering by the Huffington Post. Apparently, "Keep America Great" is a new slogan from Trump, but was originated in the (terrible imo) film series "The Purge"

Yeah that Twitter post is far worse than all of Trump's put together.

Learning something the hard way implies that while difficult and maybe unfair, it was just. That's what they're saying about the assassination of a President.

If someone says JFK learned the hard way the first thing that comes to mind is his assassination, not smart on their part.

Dunno tbh, he's not my President as I am not an American. Pence is just as bad if not worse so Trump being removed doesn't change the direction America is going in.

Half of me would be happy because he seems like a pretty vile example of humanity and he could do some serious harm in a position of massive power like the Presidency. The other half would not approve as murder is wrong no matter who it is.

Tbh I am enjoying the hypocrisy of the people supporting Trump, following him because they think he's going to change how things work whilst he loads his cabinet with the richest of the rich or because they want a moral America when he has shown no morals in marriage or in business.

The bookies have Trump at evens to be impeached or resign in his first term. Add in the chances of assassination and the fact that he 70 with an unhealthy lifestyle, and President Pence looms large.

Tbh they have probably learnt from the alt right press and their click bait headlines. Based on the fact you posted about the article it has worked as a tactic to get it going viral.

I quite enjoyed that film. Hillary Clinton and a group with a Black lives matter vibe save the election. Then the loosing side riots. Quite different to reality.

I just saw the hearing for Betsy DeVos, Trump's Education nominee.

That was horrible to watch. She'll be directly responsible for handling the massive amounts the government pumps into education, student loan programs, grants, scholarships,... and she has no experience in any of that. At all.

And she just sat there with this dumb grin on her face, answering 'I do not' whenever she was asked if she has previous experience, knowing full well it's all protocol and she'll get the job anyway.

She's also the sister of the founder of Blackwater, who is now advising Trump on security matters :pac:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc2n9uacQq4

Al Franken was glorious to watch.

    The swamp is truly drained.
