Ireland has a number of similarities to Mexico. Both have illegal immigrants in the US. Both have a trade surplus with the US and have many American multinationals set up in their country.
Imagine if Trump said he was going to spend €14 billion on measures to prevent illegal Irish entering the US and that Ireland would pay for this. If he threatened US companies planning to set up in Ireland. If he put pressure on multinationals set up here to return to the US. If he threatened a 20% tariff on Irish imports to the US.
Trump reminds me of a schoolyard bully threatening to beat up a small kid if he doesn't hand over his lunch money

Ah here, who on Earth actually takes such silly political posturing seriously? You'd have to be seriously ignorant of history to think that we're at the closest to armageddon now than the 50s. Nonsensical stuff from people eager for attention/funding.

Trump made a very interesting comment that CNN seemed to fail to pick up at the news conference with May.
When it came to the talk about torture, Trump said General Mattis is against it and he will leave it to the 'leaders' to decide.

That's not the first time he has said he will defer to his department heads, or that he would defer to Mattis on the subject of torture. The Obama administration was known for being very centralized, with limited room for maneuver at the department levels. The impression I've gotten over the last few year is that Trump intends to have a more hands-off approach. Plenty of visibility and bluster, and general guidance, but he will devolve a lot more practical decision-making to his appointees.

Oh yes he will. He could easily get a second term. Your head will explode then. I love the salty tears of depressed liberals, keep em coming.

This is precisely it. It is very much his established negotiation style, as evidenced by his countless interviews on the subject, his books, his TV show, and from myriad reports from those who have had dealings with him. He treats negotiation as a zero-sum game. He uses all the leverage at his disposal without considering the after-effects.

That can and does work well in some situations, particularly in the business world and most especially in an industry like real estate or reality TV. Politics is different, a not just as Trump and his acolytes might like to suggest, because politicians are 'dumb, awful people', who just never had the ingenuity/stupid luck to stumble upon this supposed uber solution. It is because politics involves more than bargaining over price and profit. It involves national pride, sense of identity and war.

Brinkmanship is all fine and good when you are demanding a better price on steel or cement. It is positively dangerous when you are playing with peoples sense of self and dignity.

More easily than the election in which he substantially lost the popular vote, as President Snowflake likes to remind us on the daily?

He may well win a second term, afterall GWB did and he was far less dangerous, reprehensible and pathetic as Donald 'only I can fix it' Trump.

Hey Jimmy, what is it about your, wonderful totally fulfilled, life that makes you delight so in the misery of others?

You must eat an awful lot of lemons.

Especially if he rigs it like GWB did and keeps making sure minorities in democratic areas are not allowed vote.

A cabinet he has stocked for the most part with billionaire/millionaire (Drain the swamp, drain the swamp) Republican donors.

IF he intends to defer why has he repeatedly raised it since the inauguration? Especially after having, pre-election, claimed to accept Mattis's opinion? Why has instigated a review?

If putin did spanners he would say

To be fair this thread is quite toxic. A lot of the Anti Trump posters are quite hostile to anyone who disagrees with them. This behavior is a result of their emotional state.

I wonder what would happen if Mexico took steps towards decriminalising or even legalising drugs.

"Imagine if"? Hey it's only a matter of time before this happens. Maybe around March 17-ish when Enda is over.

Not a lot, when you consider that the main customers are in a land where the drugs would remain illegal. Reverse that and Mexico would be very quick to legalise the production of such products.

In reality, decriminalising drugs would kill the drug gangs overnight and also kill an "nice little earner" for companies that specialise in dealing with anti-drug enforcement in all its forms.

    :D

The POTUS lied, tweeting at 3am about a imaginary sex tape featuring a former star of one of his beauty competitions.

This behaviour is a result of his emotional state.

If you want to talk about emotional state... lets start with the man with his (tiny) hands on the nuclear codes.

And Trevor Noah is a stable of equality and rationalistic ?

Nope. He's a stand up comedian. I post comedy stuff here because it's funny.

Jon Stewart said it best when he said his agenda is to make people laugh. If he does that then his job is done. So they take something topical and laugh at it. If you're saying why do they focus on trump and republicans? Well, he's comedy gold. When democrats do something stupid they pick on them too. Remember the Carlos Danger episodes for Anthony Weiner? (Let's face it. A guy called Weiner showing his crotch to people under the name Carlos Danger is begging to be mocked) Or how they took the piss out of Hilary when she tried to reach out to younger voters?

Edit: I just saw your edit. Enjoy the whiskey. :)

It's pretty sad when the term alt right is used to smear a majority of trump supporters.

I am confused. Who is being smeared by the identification of the alt right with trump supporters? The alt right or trump supporters?
