One thing you definitely won't see when Trump kills the ACA is millions out protesting for poor people. You just won't get people with insurance going out to give a voice to those who can't afford it.

The only way the ACA could initially pass was the complete mess the previous "system" was in. It doesnt just help poor people.

That should give you a hint as to why millions of people were out on the streets last weekend.

Trump promised he would replace it with something better remember?

Nobody wants insurance companies to revert to denying coverage for "pre existing conditions". You dont have to be a poor diabetic to be pretty scared right now, it will effect everyone with any long term condition.

Nobody wants to go back to having lifetime caps on how much insurance money can be paid out to them. It can be a death sentence.

CHIP (childrens health care) is going away. Along with a lot of veterans benefits.

The ACA also allowed parents to keep children on their plans up to age 26, so that would be going away too.

So we'll see what exactly "kill the ACA" actually means.

You're (once again) shifting the attention away from Trump.

Despite it's flaws the ACA provided even the most basic of care to people that otherwise couldn't afford it.

If they get rid of the ACA without an alternative they are putting millions of Americans out in the cold, without any prospect of even the most basic care. There isn't even a debate about it, it's simple fact.

There is still Medicaid for the poorest. Many people who qualified for obamacare weren't actually happy with being forced to pay sometimes hundreds of dollars a month for health insurance

I do think it's good that Obama tried to tackle the problems with the healthcare system in the US but I'm not sure compulsory insurance is the answer. I don't think it will ever be reformed tbh

Yeah, it's pretty easy to tick of things as a characteristic of fascism.. Do you actually believe he's the new Mussolini?

    1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism -
"Our Best America Yet!" - used by Gary Johnson's campaign, common but unofficial slogans include "Make America Sane Again" and "Feel the Johnson"
"Hillary For America" – used by Hillary Clinton's campaign
"A New American Century" – used by Marco Rubio's campaign.
"Reigniting the Promise of America" – used by Ted Cruz's campaign
"Kasich For America" – used by John Kasich's campaign
"Believe in America" – 2012 U.S. Presidential slogan of Mitt Romney.
"America's Comeback Team" - 2012 U.S. Presidential slogan of Mitt Romney after picking Paul Ryan as his running mate
    etc.

    2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights -
    Afghanistan / Iraq
    Guantanamo Bay
Obama enacts a law allowing indefinite detention of US citizens (NDAA 2013)

    3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause -
    Russia! Russia! Wikileaks!

    4. Supremacy of the Military -
This is just America all over.

    5. Rampant Sexism -
Nothing by other Presidents or Trump, yet. We're talking about institutionalized here, not comments made in the past.

    6. Controlled Mass Media -
    Obama spying on journalists
Obama repeals law so government can use propaganda on citizens

    7. Obsession with National Security -
    America in general.

    8. Religion and Government are Intertwined -
    America in general.

    9. Corporate Power is Protected -
    America in general.
Obama oversaw a law that allows pretty much unlimited donations.

    10. Labor Power is Suppressed -
    Not sure.

    11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts -
EPA stuff if you count it as disdain against intellectuals. But in reality, fascism is about getting rid of them.

    12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment -
    America in general.
What did Hillary call them? Super Predators?

    13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption -
    America in general.
Wikileaks show appointments to big donors.
Nearly had fourth President from two families.

    14. Fraudulent Elections -
People high up in Democrat SuperPacs / Movements on tape talking about blatant voter fraud.

    See? Utter BS.

Looks to me like the USA has been moving towards being an authoritarian (or fascist perhaps) state for many decades.

This article chimes in with that :
    http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/01/america-you-look-like-an-arab-country-right-now-214678

So maybe not such utter BS after all.

Steve Bannon is guilty of fraud according to President Trump. I wonder will he give him a pardon or just commute his sentence.

Plenty in NY, Florida and California etc where loopholes mean that non-citizens/illegals can register to vote when they apply for a drivers license. Only US citizens are eligible to vote in US presidential elections. Millions of illegals who have no right to vote voted, mostly for Clinton.

They are illegal, not retarded. California and New York would go to Clinton anyway. Why would someone commit voter fraud for someone who was going to win that state? Do you people ever take a moment to think before you speak?

He hasn't had a chance to respond because he's been tied up ranting about CNN and FOX ratings on Twitter. That's kind of the point.

Lex Luthor in the 80's was partly based on Trump (and Rupert Murdoch). ;)

Or setting up an administration and running the country. Besides you apply for federal aid through the NRT, not Twitter. This is transparent points scoring again.

    No no, here you are

Time he could be doing his job, but instead he's too busy trying to massage his ego.

Yeah that 3 second tweet could have spent saving lives. Obama played golf most of his terms. This stuff is getting desperate. President sends a 2 second tweet at 3 Am. Clearly not doing any work. He's had a very busy few days and got a lot done if you agree with the things he did or not.

He's the one promising immediate results, but it's clear where his priorities are. Enriching himself and his buddies, and feeding his own ego. The actual people mean sweet f*** all to him.

Are we going to have to put up with 4 years of "but but but but... Obama!" from you?

It's not the Tweet itself but the subject of the tweet that's objectionable. TV ratings FFS. The president of the United States should be above this kind of nonsense.

No that's not what happened. A tornado hit and someone used the event as an opportunity to attack trump. The ones who don't care about the people are the ones politicising the tragedy.

And a man who sends a 3 second tweet isn't doing any work says the guy with 15 thousand posts on boards.

If it's relevant then yes. And it's 8 more years. Am I gonna have to put up with 8 more years of petty point scoring against Trump?

If you read the message you'd realise it wasn't relevant. The tweet wasn't the issue - the trivial nature of the Tweet is the problem.

I'd be surprised if it lasts 4 years. I got decent odds in November that he'll be impeached within 3 years (4/1 - definitely worth a €20 punt)

Do you mean that he played golf for more than 50% of his time as president?

And yes, you are getting desperate if that's your fall back fact.

You can't compare presidential holidays between trump and Obama because Trump hasn't had any yet. However Obama had far less vacation time than his predecessor Bush.

Of course that's missing the point that the current President of the US is an idiot.
Firstly he got his press secretary to lie on day one and completely lose all credibility.
Secondly he continued with it afterwards and even bragged about his crowd size in front of the memorial wall at Langley.
Thirdly he's still going on about it. This makes him look like a petty little idiot. It's harmful to him both at home and abroad. World leaders will form opinions about his personality based on this sh1t. But he doesn't care about that. He just hates the fact that less people turned up at his party and he's still throwing a petulant little sh1t fit about it.

(edited to put in a few spelling changes and to say that I might have been a bit mean butters. I know you were going for hyperbole or comic exaggeration. However my point about the contents of the tweets still stands)

He was saying the guy was too busy tweeting. What has the content of the tweet got to do with the context of the complaint he was too busy on Twitter to reply to the request for aid. The whole thing was childish and petty.

And id say you were just as sure he'd lose the election.

My point was presidents are not always in a policy meeting or writing legislation. They can work hard and still do other stuff. Like golf.
It was petty point scoring and you know it. It's going to be a really petulant 8 years.
