Cheers man, I went to have a look at Fit4Less last evening around 7pm, seemed all right but then I realized the day was uncharacteristic to say the least, weather wise. Must take another look maybe on Monday night.

I would be going in the evenings, but rarely if ever before 7.30pm - usually by that time even the city-centre FlyFits aren't too crowded; The problem for me going to Baggot St. is that having to go in the evenings, I either have to deal with absurd crowding (it seems to be getting worse and worse especially with groups for 3-4 "gym buddies" hogging machinery and weight areas indefinitely) or wait around the office until 7/7.30pm when the situation is more approachable - but the result at that point is that I get home a good 12-13 hours after leaving in the morning.

Combined with the dirtiness and the frankly weird feel of that specific gym (not sure why, same with the Macken St. one, while the Swords facility "feels" fine), it's been causing me to find the smallest excuses to just bail out at least once a week. It's absurd that the whole Clongriffin / Clare Hall / Donaghmede area doesn't have more fitness facilities, given the residential population.

Out of curiosity, any idea why the Baggot St. FlyeFit seems to be the only one in the chain that's not 24/7 anymore?

It is definitely a bit of a shame the area doesn't have much that's easily accessible.

The Fitness Bay near Bayside isn't bad, I did a month there when I first moved to the area (though the hours aren't particularly as great as a big chain gym), though it is small. Other than that, all I know of is two small "personal trainer/small class" studios in the area (one above the garage by Applegreens, one by Clongriffin station).

FlyeFit Baggot is a bit of an odd gym particularly in terms of layout I find. Macken and Georges St are more wide-open so I think it gives you a better feel when you can "see" more. Swords I've only been to twice since the reno's and I think it's great in terms of equipment (so many racks, so much space!) but I find there's more types that walk around with their chest puffed out there. And the fact that there's a bloody DJ booth set-up on one of the floors probably is a testament to that.

Ranelagh and Dundrum aren't 24/7 either, my guess is they've made the decisions to not have them as 24 hours due to either security, not enough traffic, or neighbourhood concerns. Though, I don't know specifically, those are just my speculations.

Maybe, I don't know - it's probably just that I never liked them, and they were just "convenient enough" for a while in terms of location; Maybe it's just the crowding that gets me off (one time I went to the Macken St. one, there was a QUEUE at the turnstyles to gain entry), but I also get the feeling the personnel in these don't give a single fcuck, plus they seem full of "frat packs" (at least in the evenings) if I get the point across.

    Ahahaha...yeah, you're absolutely right - I nearly fell off my chair :D.

Only place where I've ever seen people using chalk bags for "lifting", not to mention actual female bodybuilders up close and personal. Still not too crowded if you pick the right time, and at least the facilities look top notch. The presence of a Casino in the same building exposes you to some...interesting scenes in the car park, I should say
