Ulster are leaving oodles of space behind the gain line, Connacht have no awareness between 9 - 13 or are just trying to keep things very very simple. It's disappointing from a team capable of a lot more.

Very disjointed by injuries, Gaffney has never played this level before so understandable lack of continuity in midfield. Handling errors killing us too

Parata had 2 great games against Wasps.
    Not so hot tonight.
It'll be interesting to see how he goes next week.

Don't think Parata is at this level.

it was against Buckley for driving in on the angle. justified? probably.

Only if Buckley actually was driving in, which he didn't seem to be, the Ulster scrum was wheeling around on the far side under pressure from Bealham
    thanks i'll watch the replay

He looked fine in his previous games especially the last 2 weeks at this level.

Ah to be fair he has gaffney making his debut in the centre. He's looked good alongside Aki

That not a high tackle by Stockdale?

    Edit: nah take it back

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 14,166 Mod ✭✭✭✭Zzippy

That's twice Niyi has knocked the ball backwards and had a knock on given against him

Stockdale going for the bearhug approach to tackling.

"He'll probably have to stay on unless he's pronounced dead". Classic Jim Neilly, understated as ever :pac:

The problem there was that the ball bounced too well for him

Connacht look half hearted even allowing for all the injuries. Clearly the focus us on European glory this season.

    And now Dillane off injured

  • Registered Users Posts: 22,352 ✭✭✭✭Akrasia

Jesus, it's like the opening scene from Saving Private Ryan for Connacht today

We dod well to deny them the BP

    Ulster looked very ordinary tonight.

AH JAYSUS - is that Dillane now aswell??

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,069 ✭✭✭✭wp_rathead

So that's Poolman, Bealham, Dillane and maybe Muldoon and Roux to be added to the Injury list

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,214 ✭✭✭ClanofLams

How the f**k is it possible to have 20+ injuries again this season? 24 injuries at a minimum, that's gotta be a record..

Disappointing game. Have to say, McCloskey is some athlete but he is desperately one dimensional. Ulster really should have bonus pointed that, Connacht all over the shop and a bit of organisation and composure and they would have been broken down.

It's clear from what I saw tonight that Ulster are a poorly coached team, whether Kiss hasn't had enough time yet or isn't up to it the minimum standard is just too low when you see what they are capable of doing two weeks ago.

    23 - 7

It was always going to be a tough nIght with all the forced changes due to injury. The sickness the lads had all week and then the injuries mid game. We are in big trouble when the ball goes past Jack. Parata is good but he was going to be under pressure without Aki or Ronaldson inside him.

actually, our handling in itself was correct, most if not all our knock-ons happened in contact

Bit harsh I guess, impulsive post. I have watched him closely the last few games and I haven't seen anything he really excels at.

On the assumption you're a Connacht fan I have to laugh at your assertion that Ulster looked very ordinary tonight given they beat Connacht by 16 points! So what does that make Connacht...and don't talk to me about injuries given we were missing plenty of players as well

It doesn't matter what the final score was, when it comes to Ulster the narrative is always negative.

Ah in fairness there was no negativity after the win against Clermont. A win that Leinster couldn't do a few years ago with a strong squad.

At the start of the season there was none of this negativity either, but form isn't there at the moment and players are under performing. It's negative but with a strong pinch of hope for what could be.
