One thing also for this year, as I alluded to in the previous discussion thread there will indeed be a token prize/bonus for the winner. Its nothing physical, it will just be a little cherry on top for the person who becomes draft champion (actually its something I hope everyone will enjoy as a little bonus come April).

Already planning a gimmicked roster like I did in the last!

I will always admire you for the bravery of drafting an all female roster 2 years ago and making it work. No pun intended, but it takes balls.

I notice it says 15 slots in the sign up section, is this 15 excluding automatic entrants/past winners or has the number of spaces been dropped down to 15 in total? On my way back to work so can't read it properly just yet.

Typo error from my copy n paste job of the rules. It used to be 15 slots many moons ago. Don't worry Its 20 slots and that error has now been amended.

IIRC this error cropped up the last 2 years as well.

The automatic entries take it down 4, so its actually 16 available slots.

Normal Person Christmas- that few weeks at the end of December through to NYE.

Pro Wrestling Fan Christmas- that beautiful period between the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania.

Boards PW Christmas- 1st of Jan Draft kickoff all the way to Mania.

Count me in. Have a few ideas. Like others have stated certainly have a gimmick idea for my whole roster. Last year I went all 1980s.

I would really love to do a fed completely complied of OSW "Boys" but I don't think I have the balls, the heart or the energy.

Just another heads up beaker, if that's a copy paste job then the date needs to be fixed as the second is on a Monday, not a Friday.

It's funny, my wrestling interest has nosedived this year. The OTT show I went to was great but in general my interest is at a 5 year low. And yet I'm giddy at the thought of doing the Draft and already know I'll spend the next month trying to come up with a feud (assuming I get in of course).

Id say you'll get on.... But best to be there on the day. Cheers for the heads up

Also does Jan 2nd suit everyone.... it will be a bank holiday. Would the 3rd suit people better (the Tuesday after new years!)

I'd say throw it up on the 1st, hit the new year running. I'd say the 3rd and 4th is back to work for many of us.

Reminder set in the diary for this. Really enjoyed it last year so planning to be a part of it again!

Great to see so many regulars declaring their intentions for the up-coming draft and its great to see some are already pondering gimmick rosters too.

Also delighted to see many of last years draft virgins showing interest in another year. Last year Cheese, Necro, Paulie21 , Imnotthehulk, LeeJM and PTH2009 all popped their cherry last year and I firmly believe those who choose to sign up again will come back stronger from last years experience.

I would love some new players to come on board too, as I also think new blood really invigorates the game too, so I encourage any new players who want to sign up.

After a few years observing, I'm throwing my name in this year

At least it'll gimme something to do over my long Christmas break.

Glad to be back, I did take part in the 2015 PW Draft, but unfortunately (through no fault of my own) had to drop out, as the internet modem took an unfortunate blow due to thunder & lightning.

Probably far far far far too eager (and I know there's no rush) but is there any desire to kick off stephen's day or in and around?

I find that week to be pure lounge.

I'd fear we'd struggle to get momentum going that week as you'd have people away visiting relatives, having to put up with visiting relatives (:pac:), maybe going on trips etc. It would probably drag.

I'd be up for starting earlier aswell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,801 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

Id have no problem myself, but like MNG above id fear with it being the holidays most will likely be visiting families, enjoying a real day off after xmas day itself and most of all I think most if not all previous players would have to be on board as its usually an after new year event traditionally.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,801 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

Anothet problem I might have is that ive already announced a new year start and if a not so regular poster like Campo for example didnt come back online until the new year thinking he wont miss out, yet he might be unaware of date change. I wouldnt want anyone to miss out.

I do share your eagerness Shag, hence why ive started the thread early to give potential players notice.

But with all that said, id gladly start early if everyone was happy. If one or two cant make it warlier id consider it a non runner though.

Talking about me I'm actually getting married on the 1st January forgot about that small little detail, tbh my plan was to hang back for a little while and if names were slow to go down I be back but if they fill up quick so be it

Am I right in saying Misawa's epic theme also played a part on your big day?

How did your misses agree to that?

Was the piano version, had it playing during the meal! I did up a playlist of video game and movie tunes done on piano, so it fit together nicely

I was wondering will the order of rounds 1 and 2 be reversed as they were in the 2016 game? I thought that worked well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,801 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

Yes it will. Both may be stipulation rounds too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,801 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

I most likely wont be on here much as usual from the 23rd onwards, so if you have any stipulations suggestions, any queries or any issues, between now and Friday is the best time to get in contact. I've everything ready for the opening rounds and as stated before we will the sign up thread will be up at midday on Monday the 2nd of January. Going by the previous posts in the thread, there seems to be a good chance all 16 available spots will be snapped up quickly so make sure your phone reminders are set for 12 on 02/01/2017 :)

Also I can confirm there will be a theme to this years draft with each stipulation round having a little fun inserted into them!

Personally I would love to see the AWA Championship recognised as a World Championship & the TNA one dumped in this years game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,801 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

I looked up the AWA championship linage previously for a stip, but in reality it wouldn't only affect 2 main picks that arent World Champions for other companies.

I may look into the dropping the TNA one after a certain round.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,108 ✭✭✭ShagNastii

In terms of stips bring them on. The more the merrier.

I always find the promotion specific ones to be brilliant. "Have fought in a Japanese promotion", "Appeared in ECW/WWECW" etc. etc.

For a little example of what Ive been thinking of, here ares some stips I research but wont be using:

Brooklyn Brawler Round : Picks in this round would of had to have had a match with Steve Lombardi aka The Brooklyn Brawler. I was hoping to have this as the opening stip but alas, while Brawler wrestled many main event tier picks, he simply didnt wrestle enough to consider the stip.

DUI round : If the draft pick had a run in with the law and had a mugshot floating about the net they were eligible in this round. Again while many top stars fall foul of this and would be eligible, not enough are available to make it a fair stip

Thats just a taster of what kind of stips are on my mind guys.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,108 ✭✭✭ShagNastii

Be careful about stips that are very open to interpretation. I'd play it safe. There always seems to be a bit of hassle with somebody taking umbrage towards at least one stipulation and how it works.

Whatever you do, make them black and white. Save yourself the grief.
