    Fatal Deviation, a must.

Fatal Deviation should be on the Leaving Cert curriculum. A masterpiece.

Poitín http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079732/ yes it's in Irish
A poitín maker attempts to avoid the attentions of the Gardaí in Connemara in the west of Ireland.

    The Snapper http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108170/

Do you want to show the country side ?

Let them know of the series that are filmed here too.

    Closedown.

There's always a good mix of stuff on TG4. Anything in Irish is usually subtitled. Good mix of sport, music, history, documentarys etc.

The Lobster - staring Colin Farrell & Rachel Weisz

reminded me of some 1980's RTE type stuff bought from the eastern bloc
    Ondine http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1235796/
An Irish fisherman discovers a woman in his fishing net whom his precocious daughter believes to be a selkie.

BTW if anyone wants Eastern European stuff then Dekalog http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092337/ Grim morality tales from communist Poland.

Thanks for that link in the internet users review section in your first link the last review talks about Bob Quinn's involvement, who was also involved with Atlantean and Ashling Gheal. There is a comment about music coming from a radio as the movie has very little soundtrack music, the music was a Sean Nos song, but the commentor says after 3 or 4 repeats of that segment, they realise its of South African origin. Quinn's Atlantean explores the connection that Irish music and Arabic music are connected. He gives you the illusion that your listening to an Irish keening song. God! I rambled a bit there.

Edit: I see it was made in 1978, perhaps it reached TV in 1980 and I'm getting confused with the date.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)
