There is zero ‘far-left’ bias in video games. ‘Far-left’ refers to ideologies such as communism, anarchism and socialism, none of which are routinely represented as the defining ideological position in mainstream video games. The US-centric attempts to define ‘far-left’ as anything from centre-right (e.g. the mainstream Democratic Party) to communism is an absolute nonsense.

Words actually mean something, and frankly anyone actually further to the left would laugh wholeheartedly at any suggestion that their worldview is dominant in mainstream art, media or politics.

It's not a problem. A character being gay in and of itself doesn't actually upset the majority of people making fun of the wokeness of this game and the behavior of ND & Sony. Nor is it even close to what people have an issue with when it comes to far-left progressive biases in the industry.

AFAIK it is true and the ridiculousness of it given the game setting has caused some of the controversy. See videoS below for further digging on this kind of thing

    Far left progressive bias?

Having LGBTQ characters in a game isn’t ‘far left bias’ there’s nothing even close to ‘far left’ about it.

‘Wokeness’ is just more buzzwords used by idiots, the game was ‘woke’ from the beginning.

We don’t even know how that portion of the game is flung to play out, but the concept of even having that character involved has been to turn certain sections off even buying the game.

The incendiary reaction to this online has been bats**t,

Hope this isn't off topic but I pre ordered this in Smyths last week .

My revolut card is showing as reverted its a zero amount ? Seems a bit weird , has anyone elses money been taken or is it just that a few days have passed an no action? Hoping this doesn't indicate a stock issue

The item is not in stick yet, so they can't sell it to you and therefore don't take the money.

You should have received an email showing your order.

Cheers was thinking something along the lines of that.

Just had the revolut card be funky sometimes with the online purchases.

    Cheers for the heads up.

This is looking messy. The tv ad has rights to the original song but Lotte Kestner says ND copied her cover version. She obviously got rights to cover it as well and the 2 versions are veeerrry similar. Plus the ad contains a bit that is the same as Lotte added to her cover. No idea how plagiarism laws work with covers but interesting.

Can't see her having a leg to stand on legally. The rights of the song are with New Order and Stephen Hague, doesn't matter what sha la las she added to her version and beyond that, a minor chord acoustic version of a well known pop hit is one of the most overdone ideas in music of the last decade.

True Faith isn't even her song.

Yupp, like I said, she covered it but got the rights to do so. The question is did ND copy her cover or like Raging said, is it just another acoustic cover like so many.

ND most likely copied her interpretation of the song but that really doesn't count for anything beyond being seen as a bit of a dick move.

Back on the game when does the pre download from the PSN start? I was going to preorder with the Smyths deal but its too much hassle trying to cancel it from PSN and i like the idea of havin the game ready to go when its released so i'll stick with PSN.

Preloading normally starts 48 hours before release. I think it has been made earlier on some occasions though, possibly RDR2 due to the size of that game and how many people would have been downloading it, but either way it should start at least 48 hours before it can be played.

well they did an acoustic version of the song.
I can't see them using an electric guitar in an apocalyptic future.:pac:
That Lottie one's got some cheek just because she did an acoustic version of a song ffs.

Another thing is in the UK you don't need permission to use the original song as long as you credit the original artist.

Covers are a re-recorded version of a song, replacing the original vocals and instrumentation with your own. Under copyright law, cover versions cannot change the underlying melody or arrangement.

In the UK, you won’t need any licenses to release a cover song.

Was tempted by Smyths as well but sticking with the digital option so don't have to be thinking about if the postman will be arriving Friday morning or queuing up for an hour outside the shop. Gonna try get a *quick* game in at midnight launch also.

100%. I really wish people would stop doing this already. It just seems lazy.

This story seems to be a non issue anyways, yer one is annoyed because a cover of a song she did sounds like a cover of the same song someone else did? Well, duh....

Thinking of getting it from the Indonesian store for €52. Plus I should be able to play it from 6pm that Thursday. Just waiting for preload to start to confirm if dlc is downloaded or part of game file as if so would be locked to that account.

Have been avoiding everything to do with this game since the leaks came out cause I don't want to spoil it, so the 19th has really snuck up on me!

Just wondering if I was to download this game, how much internet usage would it use up? What speed would I need to download it in reasonable time? Moved back home with the parents and don't know how fast the internet is

If i ordered it from Symths will I get it on the 19th or will they only send it on the 19th so could be 22nd/23rd before I get it?

If you click and collect with Smyths you'll get it on the day and it's only €55.

Download size of game will be around 74gb. You can check download speed on ps4

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,709 ✭✭✭shrewdness

If you buy it digitally then you'll be able to pre-download it early(a couple of days out I think?) so it'll be good to go when it releases. So that should help if your internet speed isn't great.

Not an option to collect it unfortunately, so they'll just to have to send it by post as normal?

So the monthly usage limit for our internet is 750gb, so is it simply that downloading this game will use up 74g of the 750g?
