Just seen this on facebook page. England players getting 20k for the same game.

Fijian players reportly getting £400 and Union just 75k gratuity for the match, which will generate circa £10m turnover.

France have 2 very important internationals coming up - Australia this weekend and NZ the next. For viewers in NI you have to subscribe to Premier Sports to see these games so a Sky subscription and BT subscription is not enough. AFAIK if you live in the ROI you have to subscribe to Eir Sports. I know of no-one in NI who subscribes to Premier Sports which doesn't mean there aren't any subscribers but they must be miniscule. Do many in ROI have Eir Sports? Does an Eir Sports subscription include BT in ROI? If so you're better off than us in the north. BTW Premier sports had exclusively live coverage of NI vs Croatia last night. I wonder how many here were able to watch?

No wonder there's no incentive for Fiji to send their best sides. Absolute joke. It's this craic that World Rugby should be prioritising sorting out, rather than the project players.

Yes, in ROI, Eir Sport subscription gets you BT as well. It's free for Eir broadband subscribers.

Yes that's why in NI we can receive Premier Sports and Eir Sport 1 if we subscribe.

Wouldn't complain if my game at the weekend had to be moved to San Sebastián!

Argentina pack will demolish that Scotland pack. Back row in particular.
Can see a big win for Argentina

Argentina slight underdogs with the bookies @ 11/10. Tempted?

All 4 starting wingers in France vs Australia are Fijian. Plus Naiyaravoro on the bench for Australia. Paraphrasing Brendan Gallagher from Twitter.

Is it not the two Australian centers that are Fijian born? Kaidrini and Navalu
Still though it is kinda mad

Edit : ignore Ultimate Rugby gave us the wrong team lineup

I was about to pull the trigger on tickets for Scotland - Argentina before I thought about double checking the timing of the Ireland - All Blacks game, good job I did!

Bookies seem to have the game as a close one, Scotland just under EVENS, Argies just above.
Can't see past an Argentina win for this one.

Interested to see how Bradbury goes, decent player.

    Sure am! Bookies are wrong!
4 changes to the Scotland team. Lineout, scrum and ruck defense will all struggle. Debut for a back row against Matera, Desio and Isa.
Arg kicked more than usual last week. They got slow ball and faced good Welsh line speed.
Dry day forecast. Expecting Argentina to run allot more ball. Prob use their winger Cordero around the fringes of rucks. Loads of offloads and hopefully loads of tries. 25 v 35

I was impressed with France's passing against Samoa. Granted, they weren't under much pressure but it was crisp from all players, a bit more like the old France. Fly-half may be a problem.

Not sure of the exact figures but I saw something about the Fiji players only getting a couple of hundred euro each for this game against England, while the English players are getting around £20k each and between the match at the WC and this one the RFU have made millions but Fiji are getting next to nothing from it.

I understand it's the home teams that make the money but you'd have to wonder, if World Rugby is serious about bringing up the Pacific Island teams, that they don't have some sort of scheme there to get them a bit more money?

Couple of bets on Japan here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

Was tempted by the +19 in this one. Glad I didn't back it though, or else the Boks would currently be winning by 133 points.

Decent start by the Japanese. Yellow coming for Liam Williams.
Japs defensive line is a bit all over the shop though, it's a line but there's multiple dog legs.

This is an age old problem which crops up every November, sees us all say what a shame and only for the problem to disappear away until next year. The stories of Fiji or Samoa or Tonga being on pauper wages or on the verge of striking are dog eared and of course. World Rugby are helping them out but it's utterly imbalanced and unfair that it keeps happening to the eternal benefit of the 6N nations.

It would be of use for the Pacific Nations for some of the Tier 1 nations to suck up the costs once in a while and to tour the south seas. Even A team squads will let their hosts take in some badly needed gate money. That way the costs and benefits of these such tours are spread out a little more evenly and that there is a greater local benefit.

He's considerate in that he gives us a new reason every couple of weeks.

Baldwin and Davies showing well for the Welsh.
No 6 for Japan looks decent, always looking to get on the ball as the second man in on a tackle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 888 ✭✭✭Cathalthesmart

Japan defensively are very suspect, I'm routing for them and I feel every time Wales go into contact that they will make a line break.

Huge D by Italy there to defend nearly 20 phases in their 22.

Horrendous by South Africa though, how they didn't score when there was a 15 metre gap in the defense is beyond me. One short pass and they were in.

Yup. South African rugby has plummeted so far down the crapper it's just sad at this stage.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,238 ✭✭✭✭Diabhal Beag

Maybe I'm a romantic at heart but SA have wasted enough chances for me to have hope that Italy could nick this. That said, nearly any long ball into Le Roux is a guarantee that he gets deep into Italian 22.

wales have a 20m blind side off a 5m scrum and they went to Roberts n crash ball. How inventive

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Japan try to run it out from under their posts, ref calls them back for a forward pass, that wasn't, no luck.

    Wales score off the scrum.
