Imagine how funny it would be Floyd preparing for a MMA fight though . Shooting for takedowns etc . Pure comedy

Sweet science can you point out for us not in the know what are the bad signs your seeing?

Didn't Johnson have him on wobbly legs in the first round?
Don't get me wrong, I think khabib is a beast but I see it going similar to Mendes. Conor will land and when he does khabib will feel it. khabib will have never been hit like that.
Ever since Alvarez I'll never doubt Conors speed and power again.

Similar to Mendes? Taken down at will? If Khabib takes Conor down then it's game over

Footwork , speed , he is standing square and most importantly that jab . That jab man . He needs a jab to protect himself and if he wants to land anything . It would all be set up with the jab. In MMA he set himself up a lot with kicks pre Alvarez . Obviously he wont have that option . This sort of footage could convince people whi believe Conor can win that this is a mismatch and affect PPVs

He should keep releasing good footage from his training as he was doing previously.

I don't agree. Johnson lasted the bulk of three rounds under khabib. I don't see Conor not connecting in at least one of the rounds.
All hypothetical coz I have my doubts the fight will ever happen.

Johnson was one of the NJCAA wrestlers in the US during his college career. He survived because of that.

Yeah, sure Khabibs fight before Johnson he was fighting a part time engineer and the guy lasted till near the end of the second on the ground with Khabib. Conor would do just fine.

Dont think wrestlers are much use on their back, he got the piss beat out of him with his arm tied behind his back by Khabib was a matter of time.

It's chalk-and-cheese between how Conor fights nowadays and how he fought against Mendes. When the fight started against Chad, he ran over threw a spinning back kick and was taken down inside 10 seconds. He gets up, drops his hands and for the next 7 minutes was literally just walking through punches in between being taken down at will.

I get the feeling he didn't enjoy being elbowed in the face much while on his back because he has vastly improved his takedown defence and virtually abolished any spinning attacks.

    TL;DR

Mendes completes 4 takedowns out of 7 attempts.

Conor has conceded 1 takedown out the last 10 attempts since UFC 196.

Khabib can still take him down. 100%. And it won't be pretty if it hits the mat because he's a beast. I still cringe thinking about the Johnson fight, I get the vibe he could easily have snapped his arm in that kimura if he wanted to.

I just think Conor sleeps him before he gets him to the mat but I'll be hiding behind the couch if Khabib gets him down. :pac:

Plus his knee was in bits for that Mendes fight and he was the worst I've ever seen anyone look at a weigh in ever. Look drained in the fight.

I would have thought that would have helped him to not get taken down moreso than being effective from his back?
I guess my point is Johnson took the pummelling and wasn't tko'd. I don't see Conor getting tko'd either.

After seeing Floyd's movement yesterday with that ball i'm reevaluating Conor's changes from 5% to 1%.

I don't see how people are reading so much into these videos. Floyd is one of the greatest boxers of all time. Conor is a mixed martial artist. What are people seeing in these videos that they didn't expect to see anyway?

I had hoped maybe he'd have slowed a little as at 41.

Nick Diaz pinged for 3 missed tests in 12 months.

He should keep releasing good footage from his training as he was doing previously.

    He wasn't though?

For a start, a lot of the footage from past 20 months was playing touch-butt with Ido and/or doing gymnastics on the beach or on the Olympic rings.

When they did release actual footage, it was nearly universally Conor looking bang-average and completely unrelated to the gameplan.

I'll give you a few examples:

0:45 seconds in, we see Conor sparring for Eddie Alvarez. In the released footage he throws a 360 Tornado kick and also fights in orthodox stance for part of it - we also see Artem tagging him easily. (In the fight itself, Conor didn't throw any spinning stuff).

In this footage sparring for Diaz 2, we see Conor at 4:27 throwing a question mark kick, followed by a spinning head kick. If you want to watch the whole thing you'll see Charlie Ward and him tearing the head off each other. (In the fight itself, he threw one spinning kick to the body and got screamed at to stick to gameplan).

In this footage of flow-sparring for Aldo, we see Conor attempting foot-sweeps and head kicks on Artem. (This one is kinda meaningless as he slept Aldo).

Look, if you want to just skip watching all of the above let me summarise it for you:

If you're pinning your hopes on him being embarrassed against Floyd, they should be pinned on the fact Floyd is amazing as opposed to pointing to Conor sparring as evidence.

Nobody in a million years would be convinced Conor is a good mixed martial artist (nevermind a boxer) if they were judging him from his sparring footage alone.

He has been releasing photos of him making his sparring partners in this camp look stupid

And even still , you are comparing him doing stuff in camp that he didnt in a fight , completely different to what i was saying .

It's one thing doing it for 17 seconds and another thing doing it (potentially) for 18-36 minutes, so let's wait and see.

But you're right, signs are looking like Floyd is fit as a fiddle and super sharp even at 40! Some people are just freak athletes, it's sickening :p

Yoel Romero is 40, looks very fit as well, all this ageism is needless.

I'd question his gas tank. He might look fit but looking fit and having cardio are too different things. Romero i mean.

most 3rd rounds finishes in the UFC im sure Romero has, proves hes still dangerous 15 minutes in, 4th and 5th might be different story come next week.

He's been under WADA and USADA testing for most of his adult life, he's been tested more than any other MMA athlete on the planet. If he's using steroids he deserves a medal for being able to not get caught this long.
