May aswell make it a complete ****show tell Floyd he has 6 rounds to finish him or it becomes an mma fight rounds 6-12... would guarantee action.

    That's a super suggestion..

Maybe even rd by rd it changes...

I think as mma fans and McGregor fans we should all be hoping Floyd destroys McGregor and embarrasses him that hes forced to come back to mma and fix his reputation so we get him v Ferguson Woodley or GSP soon.

Not at all. I'm a HUGE fan of his and I hope he takes his 100million dollars and retires.

Why in the name of jaysus do you care what he earns and even more so why would you not wanna see him fight in mma in his prime?

Where did I say I care what he earns?

I'm just stating a fact. He will earn in the region of 100 million for this fight.

''Hope he takes home 100m and retires''

You obviously care if your holding out hope he makes x number of dollars and quits fighting, would love to know why.

I'm not the greatest McGregor fan but if he retired after this, while in his prime and without defending his belts once would be a damn shame.

Two entirely different sentiments mate. I ''hope'' he does make 100m but if he didn't make a penny I wouldn't ''care''.

The meaning of the word hope that you used

''a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen.''

    Haha thanks dictionary boy.

Yeah I don't think McGregor with his ego would retire after a loss. Even though it could nearly be considered a win if he clips MW even once. Still very young with some fight in him and still a few more dollars to earn. Not arsed seeing him go anywhere near GSP, I hope GSP just goes away he's honeydicking everyone to a ridiculous extent. Ideal scenario would be defending against Tony, going for Woodleys belt and then retiring after the Nate trilogy fight.

Amazing how he went from rubbishing this fight months ago now hes full blown pushing it and Conor, mma hacks are some joke.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,337 ✭✭✭moneyman

Yeah I was seeing from his social media he's a Muslim alright.

Cool, didn't know that. He's very kick-heavy in his fights, never knew he had a good boxing background. Mind you, he did level Darren O' Gorman with a peach of a right hand.

Watched that live. Frans looked great that night. BAMMA cards are always great value, hopefully make it to the next one.

Any fan of Conor should be wanting him to get rich and get out with his health in tact (as opposed to fighting too long).

I just feel he's still extremely fresh in his career (24 fights, never dropped) and a very competitive person, so I hope/expect he'll sign one last UFC deal before retiring around 31/32.

In an ideal world, we'll see him defend against GSP next, then Ferguson/Khabib and finally Kevin Lee at the end of next year and in between all that have a crack at the 170lb title (whoever has it) during International Fight Week 2018.

Again, while this might be hard to believe for many, I think Conor genuinely believes he will stop Floyd.

I don't see the "con the public" argument. Nobody is forcing anybody to buy the fight.

I think the night of the fight will have a very Italia '90 type feel to it. Pubs jammed, clubs jammed, house parties up and down the country.

If that's not people's idea of a good night then they're free to give it a miss :)

Whatever about house parties, as a bartender, this will surely be on way past 3am right? I want to actually be at home for it. Not stuck pulling pints/clearing a pub out during the fight

Hes maga rich as it is I dont need to will him to get any richer, I want to see him fight in his prime which I dont even think hes reached yet to be honest,

GSP aint making 155 not a hope in hell is that happening btw.

    You'll be doing over-time!

Fight will probably start around 430am. Floyd's last 3 or 4 fights started around that time. This is actually good news for us (relatively speaking) because most of Conor's fights kick off around 530/545am.

Firas seemed very confident GSP can make the weight.

I am a fan of Conors fight, I dont give a crap about him or his personal life/wealth. I hope the guy fights in mma as long as he is at the top of his game and not losing, whether that is 1 or 5 more years. I just hope that floyd doesn't hurt him in the fight, that gets him a suspension and puts back his mma comeback. Ideally, he gets out of the Mayweather fight uninjured and fights back in UFC asap.

It'll be quite interesting to hear Mcgregors first interview regarding this fight. Would love to hear him sit down with Helwani for 20 minutes to try and gauge how he's tackling the challenge

Hopefully he will go for the jugular on Floyd early on when the talking starts, bringing up the domestic violence etc.

It's the one area Conor will blow him away in and it'll be very interesting to see how Floyd reacts.

The domestic violence is all that Conor has to have a go at Floyd over and guys in the past have, Robert Guerrero's Dad being one, with it amounting to nothing. I'm not sure he'll even bring it up, he hasn't so far.

He could have a joke about Floyd's age but that makes Conor look silly as it was him who's being calling Floyd out.

I'm not going to lie I don't think the trash talking will be anywhere near as entertaining as people think. Conor likes to wind up the other UFC fighters over the money and how he's the big guy in that promotion but that won't stand up against Floyd. Floyd has made more money, sold more PPV's, and has been around a lot longer doing it regularly than Conor.

He has posted a picture a few months ago re Floyds domestic abuse something about cj watson, who was the guy texting the woman Floyd beat apparently,

they dont need to do much selling but im personally expecting over the top shoves and bull**** from either man to squeeze out even more ppv sales.

Floyd's well able to give it back too, and the guy isn't phased by any words. Floyd's cockiness and self obsession prevents him from ever giving a f*ck. Hatton was quite funny years back and Floyd got a right kick out of it. It'll be funny seeing Conor try though.

So Floyd is great at promotion, very quick witted.... but dumb as a box of rocks?
    Wait, what.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 18,296 Mod ✭✭✭✭CatFromHue

Floyd has 10 or more years of being verbally attacked by people, fighters, or the media.

He won't be phased by it at all.

Conor isn't even the first MMA fighter to have a go at him, Rousey started that all off.

There's a big difference in Rousey bringing it up on TMZ. And Conor bringing it up at press conference with the world watching. It's not exactly something he can laugh off or deny.

"I'm not a woman you can smack around floyd"
"naw but you'll be my bitch"

Floyd has never laughed off or denied the Domestic Violence charge, he did a documentary on it!

Ruben Guerrero had a go at him over it and it was mostly just passed over.

My point about Rousey is that it's not the first time he's been had a go at in the media by a fighter. I wasn't talking specifically about the DV charge either.

He is well used to people having a go at him, he won't be phased by Conor trash talking him.
