I don't agree with wonder much but fighters fighting and coaches coaching is certainly something I'm on board with. I'd be surprised if anyone in Mayweather's team knew his name.

On that, Mayweather was sparring yesterday in his gym. Conor is driving around with his pal videoing themselves.

Not that it says anything, but I sure hope he is on it soon.

Ive often thought recently that if he is to be on it in any way against Floyd he should have started boxing training months ago. Now maybe he did but you wouldnt get that vibe from his social media postings over the last six months. Like there is just so many skills and techniques in boxing, it would seem to me to be insane to try to learn it all and actually become world class at it in less than 10 weeks. It just cant be done IMO and if he is only beginning boxing training now then he stands no chance whatsoever, he will be schooled with ease.

Will still be shouting for him though :o

I'm a day behind. Tweeted about getting behind the sofa again. Then tweeted "Mayweather is mentally challenged".

Has he been confirmed as trainer yet...?

He was up a tree house out his head in Liverpool a few weeks ago, now fighting in a billion dollar fight incredibly.

Yep, exactly why I'm looking forward to it so much. They both believe they'll win.

It's going to be a cracking fight I really think it'll be shades of Collins-Eubank in terms of rhythm and pace to it.

    This one is gold

Well I suppose one of the optimal things to attempt would be to give Mayweather any extra encouragement/reason/s he can to not train as hard as he can.

He might be rereading the secret. In his heart of hearts, he doesn't believe it.

    I dunno.

That interview he did donkeys years ago about visualizing the car park space in Liffey Valley or whatever cinema he mentioned... he seemed genuine about it!

I don't for one minute believe if you visualize an exact car-parking space being empty that it will magically be empty when you get there - I think that's pure chance - but if you can delude yourself into thinking that's possible then there's no limits to self-delusion.
I don't agree with wonder much but fighters fighting and coaches coaching is certainly something I'm on board with. I'd be surprised if anyone in Mayweather's team knew his name.

It's extremely unusual for a Coach of a combat sports star to try become a celebrity in their own right.

I suppose a good example is Emanuel Steward. He was held in the highest regard globally, trained some of the best fighters in the world from Cotto to de la Hoya, Lennox Lewis to Klitchsko, Tommy Hearns to Evander Holyfield.

He kept a low profile, didn't write books, shied away from the spotlight and devoted his life to improving his fighters.

I know people will say "It's only a book, relax" but when you write a book you're sort of obligated to get your name in headlines to try sell it.

Coaches should never be trying to make headlines for anything other than their fighters success.

When Conor riles him pre fight it might make him wanna destruct him and embarrass Conor, I expect his security team will be guarding the face offs.

How has Mayweather reacted to sh1talking in the past?

McGregor will probably go full out on him in the press conferences pre fight attacking him for the domestic violence and the fact he supposedly can't read as well as god knows what

Wonder if that could affect how Mayweather would approach the fight, is he more Diaz or Poirier with regards the pre fight antics

Countdowns and build up to his fights are usually just bragging about his wealth and skill, Conor will destroy him verbally I reckon as you said about the reading and domestic violence, hes not shy of shoving someone Floyd so I expect some of that **** to add a few hundred thousand ppv sales.

I expect we'll see a lot more of this in the fight itself.... 1.32 onwards

Mind you this clip is a good reminder Conor is his own worst critic.

Mayweather is already having a slight go at him with his "Mayweather Challenge" were he gets you to showcase your actual life etc, I think its taking a go at McGregor and his rented Lambos and Rolls etc.

That's exactly what it is. I'm not sure Kavanagh got the joke tough.

McGregor should do a ''McGregor challenge'' where you spend the day at your house with your wife/girlfriend and not kick the shit out of her while your kids watch.

The betting market on this is chaos.

Still looking for a market on whether or not Conor wins a round.

Schaub well sort you out on that one. Artem said he was offered a fight with Touchy Fili but turned it down to concentrate on helping Conor. People may joke but that's class. Although I would have liked to see that fight!

I found Artem's comments a bit surprising because it was only last week he was calling out everyone under the sun for a fight and he surely knew this announcement was coming.

The input over the years of Tom Egan, Owen Roddy, Artem, Pendred etc can't be underestimated. Obviously John gets all the credit for shaping Conor (and rightly so) but without training partners he would never have got to where he is.

So I'm not having a go at Artem for sake of it but the realistic question is how useful can Artem be for sparring for Floyd? It would be like a F1 car doing a test race against a road-car BMW.

Money is no object for this camp, I think Conor would be very wise to get the best available boxers to come in so he can at least get a taste for the difference in hand-speed and footwork.

I'm not sure a lot of boxers would be too willing. In general this fight is not going down too well in the Boxing community. I guess everyone has their price but this is taking focus and edge off two monster fights in Ward/Kovalev this weekend and Canelo/Golovkin, as well as a great year overall. Surprisingly Ward welcomes the fight, even though it's clearly affecting the buzz and marketability of his fight tonight but he's a real cut above the rest.

If I was Conor I would concentrate most of my ten remaining weeks on cardio and defence..making his body as physically hard as possible, and employing a shell like defence. Offensively he won't offer much at all, so go in there and at least make it as difficult as possible for Floyd to hit you and hurt you..

Do a Floyd on it...stink the joint out and collect your cheque!

Conor won't fight out of a shell. He won't even bob and weave.

What he does (very well) is trunk movement, pull-backs, inside and outside slips - the problem with all of that is when he gets exhausted (e.g Round 3 of Diaz 2), he finds it harder to get his head off the center line.

The reality is he'll be using his face to block a lot of punches in this contest, just like he used his face as defence against Chad Mendes. That's an ok strategy against a 145lb wrestler like Mendes to just walk through his punches but I think it will only hold up for 8 or 9 rounds against Floyd.

Exactly my point. Work on his defence. Try to not block shots with face

I do wonder can Conor make the adjustment to 10oz gloves that have 1-2 inches more padding length-wise.

I know Mayweather won't be throwing these lazy shots but take a look at the 4-punch combo that put Eddie Alvarez away. Conor had his distance and timing down to a tee against Eddie and was able to do a slight pull-back before throwing the first left counter.

Against a boxer in 10oz padded gloves, the padding from the gloves would have landed on Conor's nose, making the counter a lot more difficult. So that's a big adjustment he has to try make.
