Well if the guy just stands there it ain't hard is it ?

I'm not trolling, just happened to be awake and had a look at the fight. As an unbiased outsider it looked rigged.

What getting taken down constantly? you mean 194, that wasnt a fight against Aldo in the sense of battle it was a business transaction,

Eddie was in there with his chance and got merked.

No I mean 189. From an entertainment and drama perspective it will never be beaten for those that watched it live. Tonight was different kind of fight.

Must be. I must be such a simple fool to take joy in watching an irish man make history. But its making me even happier that your life is so sad, that the only bit of pleasure you have is being on this forum this early in the morning. Trying to make others as misserable as yourself.

It was a ****e fight, he finished it with ease, I would rather see a good scrap.

Honestly, it's still hard to believe.

3.5 years ago McGregor was collecting the dole on the way to his UFC debut.

Since then he's gone 9-1 in the UFC, KO'd 2 champions who had previously been KO'd a combined 1 time in 61 fights, fought at 3 different weight classes, showed he can take defeat in the classiest way possible, bounced back from defeat, and became the first UFC fighter ever to simultaneously hold 2 different titles.

    And he's ours.

    Amazing.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Conor didn't even have an announcement to make. Just Dana lying (as always) and looking for a sneaky way out to justify giving McGregor the title shot without being questioned about it all the time.

Hard not to mention him when people keep asking about him...

Hard not to mention him when people keep asking about him...

He was asked specifically about Wonderboy/Maia and he brought McGregor into it without being prompted.

So actually it would have been easy not to mention McG and just answer the questions he was being asked.

He is desperate for a fight with McGregor. Anyone can see that.

Looks like it's true. Conor's announcement is that he's going to be a father.

    Conor announced the following:

Dee is pregnant and due in May. He said March and she corrected him from the audience lol. Said he's "sh1tting himself" about becoming a daddy.

He won't fight again until the new owners give him an equity stake in the company. Said Conan O Brien is a part owner so he should be too.

Said the 3rd strap (Woodley) is an option he's looking at.

Said Khabib is too injury prone to rely on for a big contest.

Also said his right hand was out of action for the entire camp and they had to ice it as recently as today.

He developed the hands behind his back pose to protect his right hand in training with Artem, as whenever he threw it, it would swell like a balloon.

I think he's absolutely correct to ask for an equity share in the company. It's smart strategic thinking like this that has him where he's at.

The new owners have paid an awful lot for the company, and without him revenue massively drops, so really they have to seriously consider a deeper level of revenue share.

Sports stars are rich, but sports franchise owners are wealthy. There's a big difference and he wants to make a partial transition into the latter class.

Really happy for him - you can see the real guy in the post fight pressers, sharp, grateful and astute - not the cartoon villain some like to hate on.

I really do enjoy watching McGregors rise to Captain of Industry on so many levels - it's very inspiring and if you really analyse the guy, he's a role model that anyone can look up to, not just the privileged in society - and that to me matters a lot.

Conor also said he doesn't want his baby to be growing up in a celebrity lifestyle, that he "hates it" and has a fairly boring life (gym/eat/shop/sleep) and wants his baby to have a normal upbringing.

Not sure how realistic that is.....

    Other Stuff -

    Attendance: 20,427
    Gate: $17.7m

    Records Set:

    MSG Gate record
    All-time UFC Gate record
PPV record (Dana said 100% broken)

Dana added he's sorry that the average fan was priced out but supply and demand dictated prices.

Irish people seem to have a natural bit of cop on when it comes to celebs etc and give them their space. Now while it seems that Conor is the exception, as he gets ton of attention everywhere he goes, you'd think people would leave him be when he's got his nipper in tow.

And thank Christ that paparazzi etc don't really exist here. I could see how that stuff, as a father myself, could push one over the edge.

Rogan so salty... mutedly muttering "he's done, he's done" as history is made.

If people can't see that Conor has a problem with Rogan (and vice versa) ..... at the end when Conor was basically like "you're welcome" it was a bit of an F U lol.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

The Rogan hate is a bit strange to me.

Personally, I feel he gets a bit overexcited at times (i.e., saying submissions are in tight when they're not really, thinking people are finished/fights are over when they're not) but other than that he's fine IMO.

I don't think his bias really shows through. He commentates on his friend's fights for example and you would never know if you were just tuning in.

He's one of the voices I associate most with the UFC and IMO he'll be a massive loss when he's gone. Stann and the other guys are good and better (and worse) in some areas, but they're just not Rogan.

Talk of an issue between Rogan and McGregor seems overblown to me, though that's obviously just speculation as I know no more or less than 99.99% of people posting on here regarding same.

Liveline should be a good laugh on Monday.

"He tried to kick somebody in the head"

    * Caller makes excellent point in response *

"But in what other sport are you rewarded for kicking someone in the head"

    * Call responds again with solid point in response*

    (Long sigh from Duffy)

"You're breaking up caller, it's a bad line, we'll have to leave it there"
