that's it now - defo all over for black land as the evenings are gone and there is a nip with the past few nights

feeding outside with the last 3 weeks to try and save what grass was left

what fell in the last 10days has put a tin hat on it altogether

Fine in the morning here and then heavy showers after.

Got 30 units N/acre out on reseed this morning and it was surprisingly dry.

This weather is really suiting it though.
Must stick up a pic of it tomorrow.

I wouldn't mind a bit of frost at least it means that the rain has gone.
We have had serious rainfall in Longford over the past 3 weeks. Thankfully all the older stock were sold earlier so we only have this years calves and 2 cows (1 calved last Wednesday), 1 in calf AAx and a maiden AAx out and they are not poaching as yet.
We toyed with the idea of mowing just over 26 acres for silage (it was grazed by a batch of the older cattle before they were sold) but the weather put paid to that. We will do what we did last year and let the young stock strip graze it over the Winter whilst allowing them access to sheds/hay and a shake of rolled oats. This system worked well for us last Winter.
A pic of our first calf of the year - AAx heifer :D

Same as here. Seen one light tree down and a lot of branches broken this morning. Dunno where that wind came out of. We are saturated here now. And if we are that way then the some farms must be in some mess.

Aye, I'm glad we live on a drumlin & the outfarm is on half of one!! Lower fields are in shíte but the tops of the hills are dry, cows lie there every night.

Wet in the morning but cleared up after today.
    Land is sogging.
Neighbours cows ploughed up a field last night so bad that I think they'll have to spread grass seed on it.
Mine weren't too bad as they had the run of 10 acres and were a lot smaller number than theirs but they are grazing leased ground and have to cross a leased (wet) field atm.

I hate knowing the weather forecast as there's nothing but rain forecast with flooding likely on Wednesday.
With ENSO heading fast into a La Nina it looks like nothing only rain rain and more rain with some storms thrown in for sport.
Some difference from this time last year when ENSO was neutral and all our dry settled weather.

I wonder would Anna May lend out those trackways?

Twas a beautiful day today. Just celebrating our win :D with a barbecue although the midges are out in force.
Went home to NCD this morning (for the match) and the difference in the ground is amazing. Unfortunately it's not the same in Longford but if we got a few dry days like today it would dry up quickly.
