Full day but dry. Ground is in great condition with fields nice and green. Getting ready for slurry and fertilizer. Was drawing backfill across a field with no marks yesterday

I have a dreadful ability to have storms/bad weather anytime I have to travel. Am flying at the end of this month & the end of next month so it's probably guaranteed I'll be stranded somewhere!! :pac:

Cold to very cold weather is still on target to arrive last week of January basically from mid next week, it could last 2 or 3 weeks but it will be Sunday before we can be sure of the details, currently there are many windows in that period for snow, especially in east leinster but also anywhere ,not a pleasant outlook is it
Will post either here or the dairy chat thread Sunday

Yeah, there's episodes possible up your way,the West and north Tuesday wenesday
Its the stronger cold after that has most uncertainty
Billions spent on super computers can't trump mother nature
Tbh I'd prefer if it was over and done with, because with all that cold east and north the longer it's not released, the mire
We run the on going risk of a ruined spring
Will update opinion Monday, it's also when I'll be finalising my own farming plans hopefully

Might be only 2 or 3c Tuesday with a nagging wind
To give an idea of why we are not out of the woods yet, have a look at the attached image,it's one of the main models ensemble mean temperature anomaly charts for the end of January ,can you see the purples and pinks over Ireland, those represent air temps 4 to 5 degrees below average, and being a mean temp, some times it suggests even colder,
all that colder air is nearby and so far we're barely escaping, one hiccup from mother nature and we're goosed

If Carlsberg did Dec and Jan weather...
Never had an easier winter here before, grass growing like mad, most the stock out. Let's see what the spring brings, but even if it turned out as bad as last spring it would be a hell of alot more tolerable considering how easy it's been till now.
