The people's champ may very well lose that status they way things are going with the fans, as Sean Sapp quoted someone in WWE mentioning how this is Dwayne spearheading this change akin to how he tried to take over the DCU.

The rock is clearly trying to rebuild after Hollywood knocked him back monetarily but at Cody's expense is pathetic...and I've always been one of the rocks biggest fans

I gotta admit Reigns was funny on the mic about Seth, he slayed him and his title, so natural in his delivery compared to previous promos before adding Heyman as his wiseman, his heel run has been epic

The content of what Cody said, how he said it, how he acted, how Cody and Rock interacted, how they filmed it - like Rock looking at Cody as he walked away - had to be done for a reason though. It leaves so much to work from.

On the newest Observer Radio, Dave revealed a lot of new info that he’s learned about the Rock/Roman situation, namely that it has apparently been the plan for weeks but it was kept a very close secret.

He says Rock being in the WM main event was part of his deal to join the TKO board and get his trademark back, it was all one deal. Says the deal was made on January 3rd. Dave does not know why Cody was booked to win the Rumble in spite of that, but he does know most people in the company did not know Rock was facing Roman and most people in the company were still being told as recently as last week that it was Roman vs. Cody.

The deal with Rock was done between Rock, Ari Emmanuel, and Nick Khan. Says “they didn’t tell almost anyone”. He also says he doesn’t know if they have decided to turn it into an angle, but they have already made merch and signed sponsorships related to the match so he’s unsure how open they would be to changing the match, regardless of the crowd reaction.

If this was true what was the point of Cody winning the rumble and does that meant the Seth Punk build would have went no where too?

cause it Cody winning the rumble and rock already locked it Cody has only Seth left. So punk was never going to face Seth?

This doesn’t make sense. I believe the narrative Rock jumped in to “save Mania” after punk got injured and Lesnar got cancelled more than this to be honest.

They still wrote it, presented it and put it on tape. Possibly with a future Cody v Rock match in mind down the line but they certainly have a lot to work with into the future or in the short time.

HHH got a lot of heat for the booking decision initially but the more you read and the more that’s coming out, he really didn’t have much choice.

Priest can always save the day like Rollins nearly 10 years ago.

Must be a head wreck for Roman, he has turned his career around from where things were going then in terms of how people view him and now finds himself potentially back in the same sort of place where nodody really wants him having the match he looks like he will be in at Wrestlemania.

That's what I was thinking. The time they brought in the Rock to raise Roman's hand and he was still booed. Now the booing will be aimed at the other guy.

But seems they're just worried about pleasing the people that won't be in attendance.

Would love to know just who knew about the deal, since they allowed Cody to still win the Rumble despite Roman already having a match lined up.

Why would he just give him the spot anyway? If Rock wanted it, challenge him to a match at EC.

1. It gets big names and a big match for the Aussie show.

2. It gets Rock some actual ring time.

Do whatever fùck finish you want but it's dumb for them to have Cody be like: "Here is my Mania main event, sir."
