Farrell is not guaranteed anything. There is every chance Sexton could be the 10 and Gatland has generally favoured a more physical abrasive 12 than a playmaking 12 so Farrell could even be squeezed out there.

That said between 10 and 12 I expect he'll get plenty of game time over there.

What? Farrell is one of the first names on the team sheet for the best club team in the world and one of the best international teams in the world? That's not an accident and he is a huge part of the reason all teams he plays in are so good

Yeah but Sexton is a better 10 than him. No question. That's one starting position chalked off.

Gatland prefers a big physical 12 who can get over the gainline. Someone like Henshaw, Roberts, or Tuilagi, were he fit. If Henshaw is fit, I doubt he'd select Farrell ahead of him.

I mean, you're not wrong, Farrell is first choice for England and Sarries. But they're not the Lions.

If and it's a big if sexton is fit then possibly. Gatland has already questioned his durability and missing 2 games will have emphasised that fact.

What he prefers is a bit irrelevant if farrell doesn't start gatlands head is on a block.

Sorry mate but that's absolute rubbish. There's zero debate over who's the better 10, I'd say even the majority of English fans would love to have Sexton. He essentially combines Farrell's and Ford's best attributes. Rock solid in defence, pace, beautiful passer, reads the game like a book, and a world class goalkicker. England need two men to do his job.

If Sexton is fit, he starts. Gatland's head being on a block for selecting the best 10 in the NH is utter nonsense.

Look at the schedule sextons durability it's already very questionable I'm not doubting his class or attributes but if as it looks leinster go deep in the Heineken cup and pro 12 he will have alot of rugby to play and then straight into a lions tour without a break? I'd be sticking my money on him being injured or needing a rest. I'd also happily stick every penny I have on farrell been in the starting XV in the 10 or 12 spot

Go for it mate. Farrell will be playing just as much rugby as Sexton, if not more. I'd back Sarries to be in the Aviva and CC finals. If both Farrell and Sexton travel then Sexton will be managed. He'll start maybe 2 dirttracker games, tops, just to keep the engine running, with Farrell and another 10 sharing the rest.

This argument is getting very repetitive anyway. Suffice to say, despite all your ranting, if Sexton is fit, he starts. If he isn't, Farrell does. Which is what I've been saying from my very first post.

I'd think a fit Sexton from 3-4 years ago would start... The Sexton we have today, no, I think Farrell starts the first test

Sexton has alot more miles on the clock and a much bigger injury list than farrell which has to be a factor? He will be managed I still don't see it tho. I'm not ranting it's a matter of opinions which is the reason for the whole post. We can just agree to disagree

    Neither of them.

    Carbery > Carter

Even if Sexton doesn't stay entirely fit for the rest of the season they will want him to go. On form he is a good neck ahead of the next best so will be accommodated. Kearney was brought half fit last time, they'll definitely bring Sexton if at all possible.

For me, there's no situation, bar long term injury, in which Sexton doesn't travel. He'll be given every chance to prove his fitness.

There's a world of difference between Sexton travelling, and Sexton being first choice though

If Sexton is fit and healthy (admittedly a big if these days) I would bet any money he will start at 10. He's still the best 10 available.

Farrell is obviously a very good player but it's not that difficult to see how he could be squeezed out of starting the tests. Sexton could well be selected at 10 and Gatland usually has a certain type of player he prefers at 12. He may pick Farrell regardless but it wouldn't be a big shock to see him go the Henshaw/Roberts route.

Has he ever had an option like farrell for 12 though? He has picked big guys at 12 before but that's because he has never had a world class option like farrell at 12

    He had Farrell.

Murray, Sexton, Farrell, Payne would be the most filthy distributing halfback and midfield combination of all time.

The ball would be appearing and disappearing like it was some kind of magic trick.

Add in Hogg joining the fun from fullback and Elliot Daly coming in from the wing to deputise in the 13 channel and you basically have a backline that could rival UPS in terms of distribution.

The problem becomes though, who are they distributing to? All roads lead to George North on the other wing?

    Nowell for me, or Zebo.

Scratch that, Dave Kearney just for the outrage.

    FWIW my backline would be:

    Murray
    Sexton
    Daly
    Farrell
    Henshaw
    Seymour
    Hogg

Maybe Webb, Russell and Nowell on the bench.

I like that, but needs some Liam Williams, and prob no need for Russell on bench with two OH starting

Well there was this one for the 2016 World Rugby try of the year:

L Williams has to start, been consistently excellent, in an often terrible Welsh backline.

The twatishness of the Lions team could be at all time levels with Farrell, Williams, Hogg, Hartly and Sexton starting.

He did get caught out for the first try against scotland but yes am a big williams fan and would have him in my XV with daly on the other side
