Really hope I'm wrong but I'd say Mayo are in for an unmerciful hiding in the second half.

It took Dublin 30 minutes to score themselves and even with that they lead by double scores at half time.

Aidan O'Shea has been dreadful, his lack of awareness after he caught that last ball in near the goal about 5 minutes before half time was really bad.

The pitch is a disgrace an something needs to be done about any time there is rain in Croke Park the players are barely able to keep their feet and the ball skips far too much off the surface an it's happening again today.

Mayo need to take care of the ball more. Turned it over stupidly at times. Unlucky with the first og but the second was the result of a lapse in concentration with the marking.

Can't really see Mayo getting back into this. It's just not going mayos way once again.

    Mayo 7/1.

Starting to look like Dublin settling down but that price is still pretty decent.

It's patently obvious that it is having a massive impact. Awful conditions for gaelic football. Impossible too for the ref.

Absolutely, ball is like a bar of soap. A showery day would be better than constant drizzle. Dublin have been absolutely shockingly bad today for such an accomplished an experienced group of players and yet might still win handsomely. :( Nothing against Dublin, i wanted them to end their duck v Kerry in 2011 but i'm a romantic at heart and i want Mayo to win.....They just never seem to hit the highs on all ireland final day but all too often hit the all time lows

A lot of intensity and hard work from both teams but the basic skill level from both has been horrendous. Pitch seems to be very slick so that is a major part of it.

Very hard to see by large Dublin win now that they've come into the game in the last 5-10 mins.
Mayo aren't creating any chances of note and are just lumping ball in on top of Andy Moran with no support following in. They're getting overpowered in midfield to cap it all off.

    Classic statement :D

Reminds me of Micheál's commentary on that GAA video game "And the players are going in for a cup of tea and banana at half-time"

Mayo are definitely cursed, Referee giving every single thing to Dublin no surprises there.

If Mayo don't win this year they'll be waiting for a long, long time.

Jim McGuinness - didn't see enough different from Mayo, but they did manage to ruffle Dublin

I'd love Mayo to turn this around but can't see it. Must be somethinga bout Mayo people and fragile mentality. You'd hate to be in the trenches during a war with one. Hope I'm proved wrong in the 2ND half

    I cant figure it out.

Can they not get the drainage right in Croker.

    Looks like a skating rink,

Nothing to do with drainage. It's not heavy rain here in Dublin, just blustery drizzle as I said, making to grass greasy wet as opposed to puddles.

It is the major reason, the players can barely keep their feet and the ball is like a bar of soap and it skips off the surface horrendously.

This happens over and over again whenever we have a drizzly day in Cork park and it some stage people have to realise that it is the pitch at fault and not the players.

Mad game, like last year the weather's effecting it. The own goals hit Mayo hard when they were in control.

McCarthy got screwed, it was fairly innocuous. That craic happens 50 times a game. Ridiculous when you see Diarmuid O'Connor tripping Flynn off the ball, Connolly possibly hand tripping Keegan etc. James is right to be pissed off.

Why are words like bizarre, strange, amazing being used when it's rubbish, poor and average you're looking for?

Because the conditions are to blame so no point blaming the players.

But the other side of this is they come back year on year for more. id have to question their final preparation though. No manager seems to be able to address this issue and they have had very good managers such as James Horan and John Maughan in the past.

The ball watching by Mayo for the second goal was savage.

I wouldn't take them at 70/1 at this point.

**** the weather. It's the same as last year, crap handling, footwork etc. Exciting in some ways but the quality is poor.

I think it's the new mentality of the TV folk.

Sky has been saying bad is good for 20 years now, and now rte are saying it.

Can't criticise a hyped up product that brings in major money all round.

Admit it, it's ****. You saying there hasn't been entertaining games in the rain before? Come on.

I agree, call a spade a spade, that was a ****e half of football, dublin didnt score for half an hour and mayo are so poor they are still 5 points down. If dublin wake up they could win by 15

There seems to be such a mental fragility to Mayo. They could play 10 men and still find a way to lose.

Defending in front of your man is fine as long as there is sufficient pressure on the ball being played in.
If there isn't and it's someone like Diarmuid Connolly passing it in you haven't a hope.

Once your turned facing your own goal there freak own goals like that happen.

Classic Mayo performance to be fair. How many times have we seen them being the best team on the pitch and still losing? The were a mile better than Donegal bar two early goals. Meath+ Kerry in the 90s, Dublin last year... They are stunningly consistent.
Hoping against hope that they finally throw off the shackles but if Dublin start to play in the second half it will be more heart ache

They are like juveniles at times. is it a mental thing or is it just ill preparation? God the way this final has gone from a Tipperary perspective, had we got over Mayo I think we'd have asked far more questions of Dublin that first half at least. We'd have ran at the heart of them.

He was put off - correctly- for a black card offence. Then the ref, like every other ref, makes an utter sh1te of it all by allowing at least 3 other similar offences to go unpunished within the next 10 minutes- right in front of him.
By the way, do you agree with third man tackles and taking players out, off the ball? It would actually be a bit easier to referee if it was allowed.
