No, not on water. Only thing on water is the CPU with an aio.

I did indeed crank the fans of the gpu, not the case fans tho.

It's an Evga FTW3 Ultra. Fans aren't ridiculously loud when cranked either.

Just did my first test with a my first gaming PC. 3700x & 3080FE.
    http://www.3dmark.com/spy/16124557
Score 15 359. Everything at stock (except my RAM timings - I tightened them with DRAM calculator).
I dunno... Should I be expecting more? Seems to be a fair few people using very similar equipment (if I try and filter down to the same GPU speeds etc) with higher scores...

seems about right, i got about 10% faster with the same CPU but a 3090, you are runing faster ram and more of it than me, so your cpu score is a fair bit higher, the graphics result shows about a 20% increase for the 3090.

Cpu is probably holding you back. A 5600x/5700x can give around 30% more frames than the 3700x. Your gpu is bottlenecked.

Heh, my workstation is looking pretty anemic rn.

Ran TimeSpy on my 9600KF, 4X4gb @3000 and 3070 and got 11250. Same build with my 1070 was 6070. No interest in tweaking to get a higher score or anything just really happy with that jump.

Looking at my results page I had a little trip down memory lane. Got my first gaming PC over Xmas 17 when the mining crisis was really making it difficult. A8-9600, 1050ti & 2x4gb @2400. From 12th Jan 18 - 2194 :D

But do you know what? I was happy AF then. Coming from a console that machine felt like the future. Good times :)

Why is my score so awful? http://www.3dmark.com/spy/16315741

Everything is stock, no overclocking, attached graphs, is there something basic I'm missing? Disabled V-Sync etc.. in nvidia settings.

<edit> Ok I fixed it by setting Windows power plan to high performance and also setting the fans to 100% locked http://www.3dmark.com/spy/16316491.

My 10 year old computer crashed after playing the graphical part of Timespy, so I'm going to say I got 0 and that it is time for a new PC. One of my HDDs is nearly 20 years old.

Apart from some SSDs, the 8GB RX 580 is the newest piece of my machine - have an i5-4670k as my CPU, LoL. Frick, nearly it's 8 years old.

Have just upgraded my RX 570 to a 3060Ti and will be upgrading my Ryzen 1600 to a 5600X later today.

    Got a score of 9,762 with the 3060Ti and 1600: https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/54999328

The boost clock is going to 1960Mhz, which is 250Mhz over the advertised boost clock speed. Is this something I should be happy with?

Will rerun with the 5600X later today!

Time Spy gave me an overall score of 6,608.

    https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/55420869?

Can't say I'm surprised, I'm running an i7 2600k. The Titan Xp I've got at least brought the graphics score up a bit.
I've a new computer in the works, will see what happens in a month or so.

In fairness, what's surprising is that I'm still playing most games very nicely in 4k. Maybe because I play sims more than the latest shooters.

And the new computer showed up. 16,979. Nice to know I'm getting something for my money.

Out of interest, is there an extended background story to the graphics test? (The whole 'looking back in time/alien invasion/museum thing)

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,299 ✭✭✭✭BloodBath

Almost tripled your performance, can't complain about that.

Yes almost everything in the museum is from previous 3dmark benchmarks basically showing they can render all of that at the same time now and more.

Dunno what the story with the alien is.

Time Spy results with some undervolting on a 3080. The second one actually boosted to a constant 1860Mhz despite being set for max of 1845Mhz,must be a stepping thing. This is all with the stock fan curve, ive still to mess with that.

My scores went up with undervolting the GPU,max graphics score of 17,915 with an undervolt and max graphics score of 17,013 at stock.

As for CPU,are you running an all core overclock?

Your beating my CPU score by quite a bit, just the graphics letting you down a little and honestly i would have thought a 5800X would have scored higher

Here is my score with my new 6900 XT. I haven't figured out how to overclock using MPT yet, as it keeps crashing. I had it down to a T on my old 5700 XT and was in the top 10 in the world at one stage. This score is using stock settings but basic overclocking within spec. I have a refence model and had with my 5700 XT and replaced the thermal pad with paste on that. I'm pretty sure they are using a thermal pad on these too but it cost a lot and I'm not willing to open it up just to get better scores.

    Overall Score: 17837

    Graphics Score: 19722

    CPU Score: 11571
