Take a hospital like Drogheda- which we are very lucky is only down the road- A and e in Navan and Dundalk were closed and patients go to Drogheda, they also come from Cavan and Monaghan. I had the eldest lad in Drogheda, the day before the maternity unit in Dundalk was closed, no extra beds in Drogheda, everyone was just expected to fit in. Fine they sent some nurses up from Dundalk but no one knew what they were supposed to be doing. I really feel sorry for the nurses /doctors on the ground

Can safely say the education system in Ireland is top notch compared to here in the uk. We have lads here in the company (Construction) who had to have me attend inductions etc with them because they are unable to read & write. These arent old lads either. 1 lad whos 22 told me yesterday he left school at 11 and is struggling to read the job packs i give him.

do schools only close 6 weeks for summer holidays in uk?

and A levels most students sit 3 exams, where Irish leaving cert is 7/8 exams or similar level

Is overcrowding not a symptom of bad management, do we not all on our farms put infrastructure in place for times of peak demand,... there's sixty lambing pens here that's only used for two months, does that mean they shouldn't be bought...well that's the attitude of the HSE.
They would look at it as not getting value for money if it's empty for the other 10 months
I am not disagreeing with you the hse is a mess no amount of money is going to fix it.

They are offering students who have just qualified full time jobs but there being turned down
As they will be treated like slaves as soon as they sign on the dotted line.
I wouldn't blame them for not taking the jobs when there so much better pay and conditions across the pond.

Most people in the private sector are getting 100% of the wage for ~88% of the year - about 250 weekdays and 220 actual working days...
(if you take out bank holidays, and 20 days hols a year)

Primary schools must be open 183 days / year - ~70% of the year
Secondary schools open 167 days / year ~75% of the year
    See here

So you could argue, yeah - its a great job, for the holidays alone...

It wouldn't be for me, would hate to do it... ;):p

But the big question is, if you think its such a good job, why aren't you a teacher? ;)

He cant talk now he is in class!☺

Back after a busy few days. Holland is an amazing little country in terms of their output, engineering, hospitality and I like the view. But I miss the hills

Leo Varadkar is the new leader of FG.

There was even a Japanese news crew asking a question about minorities in Ireland.

Remember from the history books about JFK becoming president of America and the reaction of Irish people here.
I'd say there must be a little bit of that pride felt in India tonight.
