Was having a quick check of Twitter on my laptop before I went back to work after lunch. Apparently someone I follow has liked a tweet containing a porn video and Twitter has decided that it would be nice to show it in my timeline, which is nice of them

And now you're all hot and bothered? Is that the issue here?

No I feel fine now. Though I did get a few strange looks from my co workers when I pulled my pants down at my desk

Small people engaging in acts of a sexual nature while having it filmed. Such acts can include cunnilingus, fellatio or even coitus (of either orifice or even both orifices).

    Midget porn?

Like the phone I bought from adverts. Contract phone was 2 months from an upgrade so I bought a 2nd hand one to tide me over. Phone was a little Samsung and was like brand new. Brought it home and showed it to herself. She starts messing with it then "what the fcuk have you been searching?"
I took it and the history was full of midget porn...weeks of it!!
Took herself a second or two to realise that this was a long term searcher of such joy!!

Was just reading about that Trevor Deely case, that is seriously mysterious and creepy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,967 ✭✭✭Synode

Sure is. That case has always stuck with me as Trevor was my age and it could just as easily have been me walking home on my own. Have always thought it was a murder. Hopefully these new leads give the family some closure.

What weirds me out the most is it's pretty much the centre of Dublin, in an affluent area and somewhere that most people will have walked about at night as there's a few high profile pubs in the area.

This wasn't some lad walking down a dark laneway in the middle of nowhere.

It was a rougher area back then. The current lead is that he was just killed by a known criminal who had some random altercation with on the night in question. Obviously hope for him being round alive is gone, but I hope they find his body.

Really? That's surprising given the sort of houses in the area.

Yeah, was going to say the same, it's in the middle of D4.

Edit - actually I'm wrong, the office was in D2.

I think there was a lot of prostitution in that area around 2000. But I mean "rougher" than it currently is. Not rough in comparison to genuinely rough spots.

Yeah I was similar age and lived not far away from around 2006. I thought it was a grand area for the most part and never felt unsafe.

I was living in the area around a month and walking home after a night out was propositioned by this absolutely mouldy aul one. I couldn't believe it but discussing it in work the following Monday it turned out it was quite common and I was just very naive.

I read somewhere that someone voluntarily put up a reward of 100,000€ for information leading to a resolution and this only happened a few weeks ago so possibly why there is suddenly some activity.

Awful for the family, worst nightmare stuff.

It's kind of right on the edge of D2/D4, but he was caught on CCTV from the bank at the junction of Haddington Road and Pembroke Rd I think.

The news is running with a story that he was killed by a well known criminal. Scary stuff.

Reading between the lines he must have seen something he wasn't meant to so they killed him. Really is horrific. I would have bet anything he'd fallen into Grand Canal basin or something like that.

From Mount Street towards Leeson bridge and Lesson Street itself were the areas for prostitution traditionally but was considered very safe by the year 2000.

Very few people would have had a moment's hesitation at walking through the area even at night.

  • I lived in that area, over 10 years later though, but I never for a second felt unsafe. Though you still have incidents everywhere, there was a guy murdered on Waterloo Road a few years back which is a very short walk from the old AIB on Haddington Rd.

Only around the corner from Pearse Street so there's a few characters around the odd time. Look at the shooting in Oil Can Harry's as an example.

That would be like saying Grafton Street is only around the corner from Parnell Street.
