Can't help but think the SEC is deliberately making the exams easier so there are more STEM grads to work in Dublin! Unless 1997/1998 had something in water that produced a ton of maths geniuses, there's something fishy about how everyone is finding it so easy.

By the way, was the least amount of time the boat could spend 45 minutes roughly?

    Was it not maximum time?

    I got 5.9 hours I think
    6 hours

Drats! That was the most time... :([/QUOTE]I was thinking 6 hours, wtf?

I think they even bolded MINIMUM time. Exam pressure can mess your reading comprehension up, for sure. Exams are such an unfair way of gauging ability. At the very least we should do modules/continuous assessment like Brits.

    I got something like that.

Does the answer make sense though? :o:o

I thought it was maximum time that was bolded, I answered 5.5 hours

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 855 ✭✭✭TSMGUY

Wait, even if it was maximum time, wouldn't it still be 45 minutes. It's not allowed to get below 1.5 so how are you getting 5.5?

OH WAIT, F***, I just took it from the first point. There's a point where it's over 1.5 for longer isn't there? F***!

If the ship docked in at 3.1m, would it not have to had left before it reached 1.5m

    Can someone plz explain?

    Edit: Ohh chit

I presume this question part would only be worth five marks anyway.

Anyone else find it quite hard? The circle and lottery questions were brutal. I also didn't learn hypothesis testing, so I could do that question either :(

If you're looking for the maximum. It docked at 2 and waited to 1.5

It was maximum. I have the paper in front of me. Also I put 6, seemed about right

Thank you! By the way minimum makes no sense because we weren't told how long it took the ship to unload it's cargo

Obviously it's annoying to get things wrong but if you misread the question but found the minimum correctly, you'll probably get 2 out of 5. If that's the only thing you're concerned about, that's not bad going.

From my own made up marking scheme, I think I got ~264 in paper 1 and ~240 paper 2.. Add my tiny Irish bonus and I might just have an A2 :D

Thank god for attempt marks (let's hope they're as generous as usual)

I didn't like Paper 2 as much as Paper 1. I'm still hoping for a high mark tho considering that I didn't leave any blanks and I did really well on Paper 1.

I found the short questions very difficult and then the long questions quite easy? Anyone else? And did anyone get the answer for the equation of the circle in question 2?

What did people get for the probability of A on the Venn Diagram

    0.15 I think :o

    0.15 :o
i think that was the value for x.
The probability for a was x + the centre

    I said 0.1 +x
    X= 0.15
    I don't know if that's right

The question asked what value of x would make a and b independent events.

    So I just found x.
