I thought lycamobile let you roam for free.
    I'm told that's a lie now too.

Free call and text roaming in the EU, US and some other countries on certain plans only. Not a lie, I've used it in the UK and US.

Has to be a typo - I just joined them yesterday and getting no 4G anywhere on the Ireland Plus €15 deal.

    What speeds are you getting?

How's the issue mentioned before of texts not getting through.
Is this still a problem for users or sorted.

Not a typo but maybe a deliberate ploy to get new customers. They had a similar article on their site last year stating 4g coming soon but never arrived. At bottom of that page now it states 4g too

If it's a deliberate ploy . It's very foolish. Anyone joining will just change back to a different network.

Agrees and to be it feels deliberate. As there was an announcement page with 4g coming soon a year ago which never came to fruition but perhaps got them some new business. Would love to see it on horizon but don't feel confident

Just looking at Lyca s roaming notice . Disgraceful they won't honour bundles while roaming , I think this topic should be moved to rip offs

It is. Lyca customers should complain to Comreg.

Some of the newer offers in the last year or so describe data as a benefit and not a core part of the offering/ contract. That's is how they are trying to get away with. Many have been luring customers to these new terms/contracts with things like double data offers etc. Nothing is for free at the end of the day. The EU commission and comreg may have a different interpretation once the new rules come into force but that is what many of the cheaper companies are doing.
Companies like Vodafone are going to give full data on roaming so I know where I will be going if Tesco don't do the same.

No 4g. False advertising. Got this from customer service. Dear Physio man,

    Thank you for your email.

Further to your email, we are sorry to inform that currently we do not support 4G services in Lycamobile and we will incorporate the same in near future.

Feel free to contact us if you have any clarifications or assistance

I was never under any impression when joining Lyca that there was 4G. Where was that advertised?

I was on Tesco Mobile bill pay and couldn't get the port in to work. Kept getting various replies like that "Service Provider not available", "Account number mismatch".

In the end I just told Tesco to switch me to prepay and the port in went through no problem.

I signed up to Lycamobile last month,
I've only just discovered the following through usage

    1) they don't have 4G connectivity. Doesn't both me much as I don't use the phone much for internet connectivity.

    2) they don't have MMS settings - in fact, after putting in the Lyca SIM it seems that the option too turn on or off MMS (I've an iPhone 6s) in Settings>Messages is gone - missing - not there.... Or trying the route of settings>mobile data> mobile data options > mobile data network, in order to put in the MMS settings, I can't find on the internet any details about the MMS settings...
So now, if I want to send a photo to someone who doesn't have an iPhone, I have to send it by mail or by WhatsApp.....

    3) they don't allow tethering

I think I'll soon be opting for a more expensive but more comprehensive mobile network provider......

it seems that by using their SIM, it removes the Personal Hotspot button/option from the iPhone completely. ( I'm using an iPhone6s)

    who uses MMS?

Not Lycamobile or Virgin Mobile anyway. It's a common cost cutting step many MVNOs do. Helps keep the cost down and MMS is only ****e anyways.

Can anyone tell me if you can still buy the data roaming. Will need to buy for this week so before June 15th.

I contacted them on Facebook and hector from Lyca came back to me and said quote : we have no roaming plans available at the minute

I've noticed that outbound SMS texts sometimes aren't received going Lyca to Virgin Mobile. Just had an idea that it might be due to the message being >160 characters causing problems somewhere along the way (either Lyca or VM end I guess or maybe the actual carrier in between). Sure enough, looking back through herself's texts that I never recieved are all >160 characters so would've been split.

So, anyone hare having isses sending long/split texts over 160 chars in length?

You just need to add the personal hotspot APN settings and the menu option will appear again

However Lyca don't allow tethering so it won't be functional

Messaged Lycamobile on Facebook with this but no reply - would anybody know?

"I have been using Lycamobile for several weeks now. Happy with service. Can I now port my Vodafone number to the Lycamobile SIM i have been using, or would I need to port to a new SIM that has not been used?

I would like to continue using the Lycamobile SIM and service, but with my Vodafone (087) number."

You can port in now. The plan is linked to the sim number rather than the phone number on it so the plan will still be valid after the port.

Thanks! So when I port my number will simply "change" to my Vodafone/087 number in terms of caller ID and people calling me etc?
