Thanks got the assistant now but it doesn't unlock the phone when I say ok Google, is this disabled on the one plus 3?

I think it only works when the screen is on. I double tap the phone to wake the screen and then say ok google.

I think you need to set up trusted voice under security or assistant settings for it to unlock the phone.

Anyone else still having issues with the screen being activated by your ear/face while on a call? Very annoying. Turned on hotspot while on a call.
Yep i have that issue and it's as annoying as hell. Putting me off using the phone to be honest. Was on a call last week, and another call was coming in at the same time..... without me doing anything (i.e. taking the phone away from my ear to see who the other caller was).... i somehow managed to disconnect the call i was on and answer the other call - all because the screen had become active whilst up against my ear.

I have found that using another dialer app solves this problem - but really shouldn't have to be doing this.

yeah ive done that but I still think you need the screen awake at least for it to work, unless you are connected to power. A bit like Siri on iPhone.

Thanks, that seems to work, a bit annoying as the assistant is excellent and it would be great to not have to tap the device to be able to use it.

Guys this is probably more of an Android question than a specific Oneplus question but:

I like to use the google assistant to set reminders on the phone using my voice. The thing is it seems to insist that Google Feed is switched on before working and that seems like a bit of a battery hog, giving me notifications about everything from my location to weather sport etc without prompting.

Is there anyway to use OK Google for setting reminders without having this turned on or at least tweak it so it isn't such a battery hog?

How do I do a screenshot on the plus three? I had an upgrade a while back and can't do it since.
Another upgrade due now and I'm slow to do it....

Volume down button + power button.

You can also turn on a gesture to screenshot with a 3 finger swipe. I am too clumsy to manage it with the buttons.

Sometimes when I make a call from my contacts, as in go to contacts, click on a person then click call button, the active call goes to a little blue bar at the top that I have to hit to return to the call so I can hang up etc.
    A bit of an inconvenience.
    Any solutions?
Other than that phone is great, I'm a big fan.
    Thanks in advance ðŸ‘ðŸ‘

I took a 45 second video the other day, holding the phone still, recording a small flock of birds as they were circling around. Very disappointed with the video quality, it keeps refocusing itself, blurry, etc. This was a very sunny day so it should be perfect conditions for video.

I agree, it is probably my only issue with the phone. Video constantly refocuses off the subject. I suppose the fix would be to use a different camera app.

there's a focus locked on it hold the camera screen and it'll say locked?

No it doesn't stay locked for me anyway. It really struggles indoors if there are windows nearby. The change in lighting seems to put it off and it refocuses, you tap on the screen to focus again and your videos ends up all over the place, blurry and alternately bright and dark.

Anyone elses battery still pretty poor? Had been delaying a factory reset hoping it'd improve but alas no joy.

Yep since Google Assistant came out I think. I turned off Google Feed in the Google app. I read somewhere it eases some of the burden on the battery. It got a bit better.

Is it still possible to buy the One Plus 3 brand new (not the 3T) in Ireland?

Their site isn't very clear on this and I can't find a way to order anything except the 3T which seems a little expensive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,206 ✭✭✭Lucas Hood

They don't sell the 3 anymore.

For anyone who's interested, UlsterBank is now working with Android Pay in Ireland. Just added my card today on my 3T.

Just click into the android pay app that's installed on your phone already and follow the steps, it's fairly straightforward.

How is everyone finding the OnePlus 3T with regards network signal?

I'm noticing it's dropping to "No Service" a lot sooner than other handsets would.

For example, my other half is on the same network and in weaker coverage areas where her phone will have 1-2 bars of signal, mine will just drop to "No Service".

The handset I had before also never dropped off the network, I've only started noticing coverage problems since switching to the 3T.
