hi folks,i have a 455 cz .22lr, scope is hawke 4-16x44, BKL 1" mounts, today i took off the scope as i thought the cross hairs were a bit lob sided,i know i could have just loosened the top screws and twisted, but i took the scope out to give it a wipe down,i was very gentle, any how put it back on the mounts, screwed the two top bits back on,and everything looked fine, until i went to local sand pit for a few plinks, now it was bang on before i took the scope off, first 3 shots were off by 3" to left, and high,so after a few adjustments, got it bang on again,so question is,how come it was off so much:confused:

You've moved the scope simple as that, you won't have set it back down exactly as it was in the rings. Any movement of a scope will cause it.

As said above if you did not mark the scope (where it sat in the rings) and did not use a torque wrench to get the exact same torquing when remounting then all scopes will be off once you remove/move them.

Next time if you want to take the scope off try remove it with the rings attached. Might be off a little, but it's subtle to non existent.
