    What are the chances ?
2 from Bray this week, yet last week they tried to match a Donegal and Cork?
    Madness.

In fairness in the UK one they match people who would technically have to get on a plane to travel to each other.

This show was shot is September. I thought it would have been sometime in the Summer myself.

Well done to Layleh and the guy that dated her. He did seem a little awkward and nervous but maybe it was just a new experience for him and he was nice to her. What Leyley done takes balls and was very brave. Not easy for her to do that. She is living the life she wants to live. She is living as a women now and she is right to and she will turn into a beautiful young women. She is just going through her changes a little later than other women thats all.

"What Leyley done takes balls " really???? wanna re-phrase that one? this stuff writes itself

"She is just going through her changes a little later than other women that's all". seriously? so other women are have penis removal surgery and hormone therapy etc, but just ahem... I little earlier? ok there fruitcake, I think some women may take issue there now! that's all it takes now to call yourself a woman?? a new dress and a TV Persona?? not to highjack a light hearted thread but give over will ya!!

Mod note: stick to discussing the dates, not the orientation or appearance of the contestants.

Not that I disagree, but to be fair, this is a big part of the show, especially last nights episode.

I really like-liked the pansexual chap, I'd have loved to go on a date with him, very cute, seems a lot older than he is.

    What is your problem, seriously!!?

I'm an intolerant bigot!! that's what you were expecting me to say, assuming me taking issue with something means I must have a problem. I just found that post a little too far a stretch that's all. I've no issue with Dave/Leyla themselves, as a person he seemed lovely, well mannered, attentive, curious and very sympathetic to his dates cancer story. In fact as young daters go, their date was great to watch and I found it very endearing.

I just don't believe he's a woman, that's all. or at least not yet.

I enjoyed watching the date with David/Layla and the other guy (sorry I can't remember his name). Both seemed a bit nervous but they relaxed as the date went on. They were both very polite, nice, friendly, really mannerly people. Couldn't believe both of them were only 19, maturity beyond their years. They have really shown up the previous young gay male daters which have been on this series so far. It warmed my heart a little when David/Layla said it was nice being on a date and not having to explain myself and tell my whole story. Are we seeing a hint of Ireland perhaps moving forward in terms of trans?

Well irelands probably one of the better countries in the world to be in if you're trans. I think it'll be a long time before its' accepted ' though, even my family who all voted yes in the marriage referendum thought the whole trans thing was weird..and kind of were making fun of david/layla in the show last night
And they're pretty nice and generally liberal people..so they're like probably in most accepting group apart from lgb people..and even lgb people are very often not accepting of trans people.so I guess its easy to see why conservative people seem to be incredibly hateful and venomous towards trans people when a large proportion of even the more accepting parts of society are uncomfortable with transgender people

Why did they even bother putting the haywood no show thing in, seems like deliberate humiliation

Because he'll probably appear in a future episode, and they'll make a special effort to match him with someone really nice. That seems to be what usually happens when there's a no-show.
Is have stayed for a meal anyway, might even have asked the lovely waitress if she would like a date ;)

good post that, well said. I'd actually be more accepting of trans people over bi-sexuals any day of the week, I think "Bi" is half in half out shyte or maybe another word for kinky!

on another note, I though last weeks Donegal girl who met the cork lad, was cracking looking. She was tall and plus size I mean, but by jasus was she stunning to look at, her face was beautiful, dunno how she's single cos she was a nice person too by all accounts.

Bernie and Dave didn't have a happy ending. :(

    https://radio.rte.ie/radio1highlights/bernie-first-dates-the-ryan-tubridy-show/

She's a strong woman, you'd have to wish her well in her search for love.
Bernie Murray entered the First Dates restaurant looking for someone tall, bald and tattooed. Not only did she find someone who fit that description, but he was a someone she already knew and had a bit of a crush on. Sounds like a dream date, and… it was!

The effervescent Bernie spoke to Ryan Tubridy this Valentine’s Day about her loved-up evening on First Dates and about staying upbeat despite the trials that life has thrown at her in the past. Disaster struck for Bernie when she was diagnosed with cancer and her biggest concern was for her daughter.

“I had to keep going for her. You know, when you’re a single parent, and your child is going through a big transition from sixth class to first year, you have to keep life as normal as possible and there was never a good time to die. You couldn’t die at night because she’d find you before she went to school. You couldn’t die when she was at school because she’d find you when she came home from school so you just had to stay alive.”

Stay alive Bernie did, battling and eventually beating cancer and getting back in the saddle to look for love. Tragically, Bernie’s mum passed away in the week before the show was due to film. She was going to cancel the date but she knew her mother would be egging her on to take the chance. As for her date, Bernie says,

“He works locally so I had seen him a few times and thought, yeah, that’s not bad now at all, I wouldn’t mind a taste of that!”

Despite a dream date that had viewers oohing and aahing over the ideal match, the love story wasn’t to be. Bernie said she has heard radio silence from her date ever since, but she hasn’t come away with any bad feelings.

“Anybody who’s thinking of going on it, go for it because it’s a really good experience.”

just saying he might not be into commitment - track record and all that!

(and yes , personally, I'd prefer to meet a man who had least tried marriage and failed than one who was still single in his forties/fifties because he liked playing the field too much and being a lad. I've met both so speaking from experience).

So is every person who is single in middle age single because they were "playing the field and being a lad"?

nope I didn't say that so no need to get offended. I did say "personally " and "in my experience" for that reason!

I'm not getting into a game of tennis about this - I'm sick today with tummy bug and don't have the energy for multiple excuses and reasons for writing a comment. Thanks.

AIlish is on the dater update video on Facebook, trying to hint she was predrinking before the date and recommended not doing that. Travelled to Australia since and has found Mr right 😂

Only got to watch it this evening, the pan couple came across so well, they seemed to get on well and it was a nice date to watch, fair play to them. I only learned what pan was a week or two ago in this thread last time it was mentioned. (I feel old).
Speaking of old thought Bernie looked a lot older than 54, didn’t think Liam Brady was that into her.
The young couple with lovely smiles were a good match too.
The Egyptian guy gave me the creeps, she was really pretty and nice. Good mix this week.
