I'd be happily taking profit's other than bloody cgt. Then again I did have the equivalent of 100 shares back in Jan 2020 which cost me 11k then, would be worth 100k now.

I think viewing Tesla as simply a car manufacturer is a mistake. A lot of people would view it as a tech company, and are likely to be investing based on its future potential, rather than its current earnings.

Crazy- $1,093. Part of me screams SELL as it's up so high but it just keeps going up and up.

For legacy car manufacturers selling to fleet wasn't ever anything to crow about. You got volume but precious little profit.

If you had to be relying on fleet sales then your Marque wasn't worth much.

The Tech Company arguement doesn't wash either as apart from buying a car there isn't much of interest in the pipeline for either consumer or industry. battery storage is something which they'll struggle to make supernormal profit on when competing with the likes of CATL or BYD.

I folded and sold at $1081 this afternoon. This price just seems a tad crazy. Mind, that's what I thought the last time I sold and that didn't work out very well for me 😂

That said, a 50% return within 6-7 months is not to be cried over. Exact same return I had the only other time I bought and sold TSLA

Well done. I had to listen to a Colleague telling me uninvited about how Tesla are the future over a team dinner last night. All about how they aren't just a car company but also a solar and battery company all despite CATL building a battery near his family home.

He still won't buy an EV himself as he doesn't think they have the range yet but will magically get it in coming years. I don't know where he thinks a Tesla 3 SR with 300km real world range will grow to become a car with 600km range any time soon. He doesn't get it that you don't look for big batteries but rather look for the ability to splash and dash to cover long distances. The public aren't educated enough to understand ideal mode of usage for EVs.

He's buying shares for his kid. All I can agree with him on is that he has done well from Tesla shares in the past but there is zero guarantee for the future.

Ouch as in it has gone up to well over $1100 now? That's because Tesla has just released the news today that they have opened the supercharger network to non-Tesla (on trial just in the Netherlands).

The financial analysts are loving this. You either pay double what a Tesla owner pays, or you have to buy a monthly €20 subscription. This is money for nothing for Tesla, in fact it will make them a much bigger electricity buyer with cheaper rates. And they charge several times the cost of electricity, so they make a lot of money there too. It will also be a good opportunity to generate some electricity themselves or store it. Tesla the energy company, rather than just a car manufacturer.

Ya. I still think you made the right move, its impossible to predict the behaviour of a stock that has become completely unmoored from reality.

Interesting that none of the top investors own Tesla stock.

Getting silly now lol. Still not pushed selling, hopefully it will keep mooning until 1st of Jan, I'll have to take profit's then. I'm buying Elon coins on crypto.com at the min also, another pure meme coin but this coin has Elon Doge and Mars in its name, how can you go wrong on likes of that ha, absolutely no logic to anything anymore but I know just being in the game has paid off massively the last year time and time again.

Oh my God look at AVZ, double digit rises every night for a month on top of 1000%+ gains, I was a cointoss away from going with them instead of Tawana years ago, thats 6-figures of missed gains there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,251 ✭✭✭massdebater

Damn!! 😱 It's always hard to watch the one that got away like that

Well I lost 15k in TAW and AVZ has 10-15 bagged since then and I would have been adding along the way like I did with PLS... Not supposed to dwell on these things but it stings.

Selling 11k of Tesla for 18k in Jan 2020 (would be worth 110k today), selling NIO at 4.50, selling APPs for 5.70, ETH for 150, all in March or April 2020, trust me we all have them 10x stocks that we sold out and repeatly tell the story of what ifs lol, I certainly don't actually dwell on any of them anymore, my overall growth with equities and crypto has been consistently ahead of any other method of investment for the last 2yrs so I really cannot ask for anymore.

Holy!! You thinking about selling anything else soon? 🤔

Maybe just dca out in future instead of selling all your holdings!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭crushproof

We really to bar any mention of TAW on this forum, far too many us burned on that one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,391 ✭✭✭✭Timmaay

I was brand new to investing back then and didn't have a clue. I'm just happy Corona didn't wipe me out totally lol, and I came back for more.

I kind of get your argument, but where does like 95+% of their revenue come from?

Answer = Selling cars, that for me makes them a car company.

Tesla the company are fantastic, but at the current share price it's not a good investment, personally I think 0.5 tillion would be a fair valuation.

Just my two cents, there's more money to be made elsewhere with much less risk

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,251 ✭✭✭massdebater

I agree there are probably better opportunities to make money in the current environment. I'm not adding to my tsla position, just holding on to my pre-split shares, and it's a small part of my pf. That being said, I'm not selling any time soon.

You're right that most of their current income comes from selling cars but they have plenty of demand for that, as well as other potential income streams like their charger network, all their r+d tech etc, so I'm happy to see what they can do in the future.

It's a tough one whether to hold onto all Tesla shares or sell some. They're incredibly high atm, normally dip considerably after a steep climb and them climb again. I'm checking each day and waiting to see the dip

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,251 ✭✭✭massdebater

I have no idea whether now is a good time to sell or not but, if you're checking every day expecting a dip, you probably have too much exposure and it might be a good idea to sell a few (not all) to settle the nerves.

where can one get lithium etf not on t212 or DEGIRO as far as can see, would you go with lithium America’s or something else.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,391 ✭✭✭✭Timmaay

Eft and tax in Ireland, total disaster. You'd be far better off just buying 2 or 3 different lithium stocks. Only thing I'd say is be cautious about jumping in right now, they are quite extended at the min, Livent one that I'm in has ran up from 22 to 32dollars in the last month, probably due a healthy pullback.

Dumped all yesterday at 1,092. Might buy some/many back if they fall further then begin to rise again.
